Yeah, how about no.
I already can't keep track of all the newbies from last month alone. Most of them aren't you, unfortunately, graspery-of-the-English-language-wise.
I swear to the one true Flying Spaghetti Monster, if I see another noob here, I will buy a gun with six bullets. A single bullet to kill all of the noobs and the remaining five to kill myself.

You should totally check out the IRC channel.

While I think it's great that Syd's site is starting to get wider coverage and the recognition it deserves, I feel like I'm seeing one of these "OMFG SPREAD THE WORD" threads more and more often. I think that if you want to spread the word of an awesome pop culture site with a pretty laid back discussion forum, go right ahead. But there's really no need to explicitly say that we're doing so every five minutes.
Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't say how torn I am on this issue. Although I'm happy that Syd's site is growing and becoming more popular (as well it should), I'm also a little leery about the new wave of people coming to the forums. I suppose I just can't ignore the correlation between the recent influx of new members and the increase in stupid, nonsensical posts.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |

I've been posting pretty sporadically recently; partially due to my comprehensive exams (there's a thread about those somewhere), partially due to my counter-terror research taking a front seat on my priority list, partially because I've been in DC, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and soon back to DC, and relevant to the topic at hand, partially because many of the recent posts I've been seeing just haven't been interesting to me. Like I said above, there's been a weird increase in (IMHO) dumbass threads being started and subsequently (and often, justifiably) locked by Jeebus. I mean, really, why was a thread even started asking who thinks Syd is a god? GD Internet fellatio. With all due respect to Syd, of course.
Don't worry though, I'm still around- and my posting will be on the upswing again once I defend my fucking comps. As much as I dig this website, most of my Internet time has been spent on my school's library website these days, I'm afraid.

Yeah you'll find that as popularity increases, the average intelligence of fans decreases. Such is the way of the internet sadly.
I'll be more or less fine with it though so long as the Video Game forum isn't filled with morons asking where they can find a Super Mario World ROM or whatever.
Gen Discussion has been a bit of a train wreck lately, however, I have to say...

I can understand everyone being wary of the n00bs, but I have a minor solution: stop adding people to the nWo. If things get too, er, n00b-ified around here, the regulars can always start their own threads in the nWo without fear of them being tarnished by n00bs. (Note to self: remove "n00b" from everyday vocabulary)
This reminds me of that mission in Fallout 3 where you can either choose to spread the possibility of plant life across the wasteland, or keep it to one secluded location. You could also just kill it (or in this case, Syd), but that wouldn't entirely make sense, given that would just suck for everyone, as well as the fact that Syd isn't a suicidal tree-dude thing.
I hope that made sense.

Can I stay in? I don't think I really count as a n00b cause I have a firm grasp of the English language.

im just waiting for Jeebus to drop this thread like a bad habit.
Jeebus needs his own thread lock gif or jpeg to add at the very last post of a locked thread.
sorta similiar to the stamp one when someone gets banned around here.

It's the unmodded boards where you can talk about and show whatever the fuck you want. You must join the usergroup to get in. Now will you please shut up?

You are quite welcome. Now lets all start posting bullshit and see how long it takes before this thread gets locked.

I apologize everyone, I am getting quite confused about all of this. I see one thread that encourages more people, and the next that will burn me for just saying "new." For example, me and Ross Rifle have been leaving tags around, the last time I saw him he was encouraged for that. As soon as I start a thread to promote this website after seeing the ratings in Canada so low, I get flamed.
