So my mother has a boyfriend in California whom she is apparently pretty taken on and vice versa and once the school year finishes, she's going to visit him for a couple weeks and then he's moving out here to live with her. So basically, since I still live at home, I have to be out by August 1st. Not a huge deal to me, my only worry is being able to generate enough cash to pay all my bills, but still, a little daunting. Like I'm excited to be moving out finally, but it's gonna suck trying to earn enough money, find roommates and a place to live and pack up all my crap within a few months. I may explode.

Do not room with any good friends, in my experience it always screws up the friendship in one way or another.

Well, optimally I would move in with my friend and his GF who have been together for like four years, are stable and are very much like me. They are also living at relative's house and would like to move out again but can't quite afford to split apartment rent between them, but if I were to join forces, we could easily swing it. I've been hanging out at this kid's series of apartments since freshman year in college some seven odd years ago so I know how he keeps house (messier than I), but I'm only concerned with my personal space and the bathroom as far as cleanliness goes so I don't forsee any big problems with that aspect.

His girlfriend also happens to work at the same chain of supermarkets that I unfortunately do so I could perhaps get transferred up to that branch and hopefully go full time so I have a steady income flow and I'll probably have to take another side job for a few hours a few days at first. Plus my mother said she would help me along at first.

SO...

Assuming all that works out to my advantage, things should transition fairly smoothly.

The boyfriend is moving out here, ostensibly into Zarak's current house. Unless his mom is selling the house and getting a new, smaller place.

I would try to stay with the mom and boyfriend if I were you. I just got back from college and I am staying at my dad's place. Before coming back I was all gungho about getting an apartment until I realized I don't want to get a shitty job this summer just to be paying rent at some apartment complex when there are better options and not just throwing my money into a pit with no return whatsoever. Roomates suck, they are always going to piss you off, at least with mom she is going to cut you slack on rent and food. You might have to do some more than usual asskissing with the BF, but it will be worth it in the longrun.

My friend is doing the same thing(staying at his moms) and won't be moving out till he is done with medical school. Him and I both agreed having an apartment is nice when you want to bring chicks over to screw, but besides that, and after the age of 25, having your own apartment is pointless unless you are married.

Just tell your mom to buy a house where your room is cut off from the rest of the house even, a friend of mine has a similiar situation where he stays in the sunroom and is able to go as he pleases all night without waking people up.

If you move in with your friend and his gf, rent shouldn't be that bad. I know you can easily find a nice size 2 bedroom apartment for like $1200-1300. Sucks it was sprung on you out of no where, but at least you have a couple months; when PLETHORA found out his mom wasn't keeping the place they were renting and was going to get somewhere that wouldn't have room for him as well, he had like 2 weeks to make arrangements.

I strongly suggest you do NOT move in with a couple. You will find that there are certain situations that you do not want to be in. Every couple has arguments and you don't want to weigh in by accident on them, it could change the structure/dynamic of their relationship and you would be blamed.

I wouldn't say this shit if I didn't really think it was a bad idea.

If you keep an eye open you'll find a solution within the amount of time you have and you will be ok. Just keep on working and keep on trying.

If you can stay out of the way, rooming with a couple isn't so bad. But yeah, it can be awkward when shit goes down. I know as half of a couple we are never again going to have a roommate. It's hard not being able to get alone.

Also, never, ever room with friends.

I dunno the situation up in your area, but my wife and I have rented over 4 different apartments since we were around 20. We're 24 now so it was like one a year and we were constantly broke, not to mention rent is ridiculous. If you have semi good credit, just find a small house and buy the sucker. I had shitty credit and got a loan fine, although I am gonna be paying this place off till I'm 32.

Also I have never been late on house payments so don't accuse me of causing the housing crisis, bastards.

Rooming with a couple can be a nightmare. I had a roommate who's girlfriend practically lived at our place and individually I liked both of them. But when they were together, it was a disgusting exhibition. She was always cuddling with him, playing with his hair, she would always refer to him as her "lover". It kills me just thinking about it, I just wanted to constantly give her the cunt punt.

From my experience, rooming with a couple is the worst case scenario. Find somebody who works a lot and is rarely home.

Well, those two are really my only option since none of my other friends need roommates/apartments and I have a limited time to get organized. I'm gonna try to get transferred to the Shaws up there which should provide me with some money to begin with.
