Die With Your Boots on is THE SHIT!

BUT:

THE TROOPER is better...sorry Hawk, but it is true.

Considering how The Trooper is the track following Die With Your Boots On on the album but in old war tradition you would mostly give your boots to your fellow soldiers before you died. I mean even as one was dying they'd be taking the boots from you. Then they'd continue fighting in your boots in honor of you.

Yeah I hear that too, but thanks to the idiots at the History channel who miss read, what the end of the calendar actually means, all it means is we move from one age to the next.

You forgot January 1, 2000 (Big round numbers are scary) and January 1, 2001 (The actually beginning of the new millenium).

Also remember there were several that were supposed to happen in the distant past, or at least by a certain point.

1000 AD comes to mind for the first, sometime before everyone who had ever met jesus for the second. Look up "wandering jew" why don't ya.

In my religion (LDS or Mormon whatever you Prefer) we beleive in a second coming of Jesus Christ. I think there is somethng about how the wicked will die but I can't remember

You can make anything into a doomsday prophecy. My calendar in Windows XP only goes up to 2099. Does that mean doomsday will befall us on December 31st, 2099? If somebody wrote a book about that there would probably be enough people out there naive enough for them to turn a profit.

you could also go with the aztec 13 skulls theory too
if all the skulls are present then the apocalypse won't happen for another calender cycle(370 some odd years)

I view the biblical apocalypse as a metaphor that attempts to explain to process of dying. I think it was structured as a world encompassing event (rather than a personal experience) to give it mass appeal.
