I am very confused. How is this a good thing? This seems like a very bad product that will be misused in just about every way possible.

As soon I saw this, I assumed it had to do with pedophiles, cause of the name. It didn't of course, but I don't like the thing it does either. If I had kids, I definately wouldn't stick them in that device. The plastic it is made of looks like it would get really unsanitary really quickly, and I don't think any kids are going to sit still in the plastic helmet of doom to for it to have any affect. And it says it can be plugged into a Nintendo game boy. When was the last time kids who need to be sedated played on game boys?

I made the pedophile assumption too lol. I thought it was some kind of drug that helped reduce the impulse or something.

I know this thing seems a little weird, but honestly, I don't think its that big a deal. I mean, they already use nitrous oxide to sedate patients anyway for medical work (and some dentists actually advertise its use, for people who are scared of dentists). This is really no different, it just hooks it up to a Nintendo *shrug*. as long as the stuff is given out by an anesthesiologist who knows what they fuck they're doing, it shouldn't be a problem. Now, if we start talking about home use, and parents using it to shut their kids up, THAT would be bad.

...Then again...now that I think about it, Start Trek HAS taught us that not all games that make you feel good are harmless...

(It actually reminds me quite a bit of that. In sort of a creepy way the more I think about it.)

I don't see the problem.

People do realize this is a medical device to be used by trained medical people and not something you slap your kid in when you want some alone time, right? Some of these comments make me unsure people understand that.

Yeah and oxycodone is only for people with severe back pain.

Well, people can abuse all sorts of things. That doesn't mean it should be kept from its intended purpose. I'm don't feel comfortable denying painkillers to people who genuinely need them just because its possible to use them for something other than their intended purpose.

Granted, this case is a little bit different since we're talking about calming down kids, and not about people in crippling pain. But honestly, given my experiences watching my little sisters as kids in the doctor/dentist...I don't think this is necessarily a bad tool, as long as its used judiciously.

Neither Oxycodone nor this device can be easily or legally acquired by people who wish to abuse it.

I see no evidence whatsoever this items is going to be made available to the general public.

I'm just afraid that parents would abuse it to the point where they just slap the helmet on their kid whenever the kid so much as makes a peep.

I'm putting this in capitals, boldface and underline so people get it.

PARENTS WILL NEVER GET A CHANCE TO USE IT IN THIS WAY. THIS ITEM IS NOT INTENDED FOR SALE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. IT IS INTENDED FOR SALE TO HOSPITALS AND OTHER MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS TO HELP WITH PREPARING CHILDREN FOR SURGERY!

Sheesh.

Ahahaha I hope people keep misinterpreting this story purely because watching Usa's mounting frustration is highly entertaining. Kefka!

Sheesh.

Tangent here.
I was looking through the toys section at Wal-Mart for the newest wave of Transformers Animated figures and saw that Tatman winged cape backpack thingie from the Dark Knight toyline. I looked over the box and the sides and a smile crept on my face as I thought they had finally wised up and didn't state you can't actually fly with it on. I called my friend over to see, then he told me to turn it over and the damn thing says on the backs "This is not a flying toy." So much for common sense Rolling Eyes

As for the name my first though was Pedi Senate which made me think of that Pedo Party in Sweden or somewhere nearby.
