Not sure about the rest of you, but I'm sick and tired hearing the following phrases uttered aloud.

LOL pronounced lawl, usually sarcastically

O RLY? pronounced orly, which sounds to close to orally and thus is creepy

ROFL pronounced ROFFLE!, at least no one has shouted roffle coptor yet Confused

ZOMG! as in ZOH MY GAW!

In summation, I expect you to do your part and throw things at anyone who utters any of these phrases aloud.

Mad

You, sir, have just gained a friend. Utter agreeance.

Then again, I don't even use those online. That's how deep my hatred is.

fortunately I have not really witnessed this in person very often. Most of my friends spend far less time on the internet than I do. I think about the worst offense I've seen is some /b/ graffiti in some bathroom stalls in a couple shitty bars.

I solve this by walking way when I hear "lol" in real life.
I walk away no matter where I am. I have a good reason. They are fucktards and it is contagious.

I agree, although on occasion I use o rly, but I don't pronounce it as orally, I pronounce it as Oh, really? Usually the people who say this are Asians and 14 year old girls.

I can't stand this. I remember one time my cousin was saying these internet terms in a real conversation and it sounded so lame. I remember one time he was talking about a certain game and he was like "That game pawns!" He meant pwns but to say something "pawns" just sounds retarded.

So I don't use actual internet abbreviations in conversation ("LOL", "ROFL", etc.) but I do use some terms in conversation that most people don't seem to understand. For example, I say "I see what you did there", "Epic fail", and "/ignore" (pronounced "slash ignore") all the time.

Sadly, I hear a lot of this shit at any LAN party I go to, but I deal. I just punch a wall and grit my teeth in my sleep after.

Yep, there's your problem, right there. LAN parties are notorious for nerd/leetspeak, and long-term exposure can cause anger, depression, pity, sadness, and the unquenchable urge to set things on fire.

Some of the people have some pretty cool computers, though.

Outside of that, they're generally great people. A few douchebags here and there, but generally good people, aside from the annoying netspeak.

Me and my friends will use lol, but only for jokes and humor that is of internet quality. That is to say stupid, mildly random, and just falling short of real jokes in general.

Yeah, I do that too, but do it to the extreme the shut the person up who is doing it sincerely. I oftentimes use 'Epic Fail' or "Ohh-Emm-Gee!" repetedly just to make the sincere person realize how stupid they sound. It usually works, too.

I used "fail" as a noun the other day accidentally and made myself sit in the corner for thirty minutes.

I used to go to internet cafes with my cousins before I had broadband. These were places that had internet gaming. The last time was maybe in 2004 but I never heard internet terms used. It was mostly just a lot of profanities. Instead of hearing stuff like "Your team got pwned!" It was more like "Fuck your team...we beat your ass." Or "Fuck you...quit camping!" That I can handle but people talking in net speek in the real world is stupid.

On a side note:

How the world has changed. I remember loving going to these internet cafes with my cousins because they not only had LAN games but a fast internet connection. It indeed changed when my area finally got broadband. However 2004 was the last time I went to an internet cafe, and it just wasn't the same since I had broadband at home at that point.

See, that defeats the purpose of this conversation though. I say "o rly", "omg" and "lol" in real life all the time, but I pronounce them "Oh, really?", "Oh my God!", and "<insert sound of actual laughter here>". That has nothing to do with internet words, as those are regular words and sounds. (You realize internet words are actually abbreviations of English words already and not some new language, right?

Now tell me, who's the REAL Buzz Killington?

You people are hanging out in the wrong circles if you hear this shit spoken.

I don't think I have ever heard any of my friends say internet words out loud.

Perhaps the sole exception would be WTF, but used in a sarcastic situation.

Edit: Update after reading this article:
