Who beleives that the apocalypse is indefinetely coming? Share junk about the collapse of civilization, massive fires, power outages, survival teqniques, and oh, Don't mention zombies. Please. Mobs, riots and bandits/theives are cool, though.

It's dumb to worry about the apocalypse, as no one even knows when it will happen. And when it DOES happen, no one will care as they no longer exist. So really, who cares? Just live life to the fullest.

Don't tell this to anybody, but... a giant bunny appeared to me and told me the world would indeed end in 3 years, 15 days, 4 hours, 4 minutes and 56 seconds from the moment of this post. And that I'm the one who'll destroy it.

It gets annoying how people at my school talk about how the apocalypse is coming in 2012 because the mayan calendar stops there or something along the lines of that.

Anyone remember back before they turned the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) on and everybody was convinced that it was going to end the world? It pissed me of because the jackasses that thought like that stand in the way of progress. It's okay to be careful, but not trying to advance at all cause of some stupid superstition while continuing to live a primitive little existence is awful. I heard a lecture on TV one night (History Channel), and the people there said that if Achemides' writings had not been burned/written over, we could have landed on the moon 100 years earlier.

But anyways, back on the apocolypse. I think and have always thought that people who spend their entire lives wait for the apocolypse to come will eventually realize that they have wasted their lives thus far. Somebody who is constantly ready to lock up, leave everybody else and hide in a bunker somewhere cannot become emotionally connected with anybody, and live empty, meaningless lives. If you spend your life waiting for something, then when it finally happens you look back and realize you haven't lived for a good long time. So i think, like Ba'al said, just stop worrying and live your life.

The only apocalypse that matters for me is a complete pandemic that wipes out most of the population, leaving only me and maybe 10% of the population (my friends included) so I can loot some sweet arcade machines. Zombies might be involved.

Seriously though, 2012 will prove to be an interesting year, because Poland is hosting the Euro football cup. IN MY CITY. I can't wait to help some strangers from all over Europe find their way to the local bar.

Yes.

It is the way of time. It might be in 100 years or it might be in 5 billion when the sun becomes a red giant. At some point, the earth will be destroyed and humanity will go with it.

This isn't so much the religious apocalypse, but it is the end of humanity and the earth.

I'm going to put my opinion out here, an apocalypse may happen soon, may not. I agree, the sound of an apocalypse and extreme rebellion sound cool, but really, is it actually going to happen? My thoughts on the Calendar is that some ancient mexican shit went down, and it is like all other ancient religions, the sun is not a god people. I may be totally ignorant to this subject, I may not be, but people need to stop scaring the shit out of other people, and stop making things sound worse then they already are. For example: Y2K, we did not die, and everyone said "we are going to die." I just think this is a bunch of crap.

You forgot about space colonization. If that occurs - which it will eventually - the species will survive our sun going nova.

Every generation thinks they'll be the last and awaits the apocalypse. The fear-mongerers now are no different, but still annoying.

the sun doesn't super nova in another 10,000 years
the apocolypse will be somthing related to something earth bound.
and the super nova, if we do colonize, would still vaporize us.

Apparently, in a billion (not 5) billion years, the sun will heat the Earth too much for us to survive, unless we do something to cool it a bit,
such as a big dome or sending ozone into the atmosphere or whatever we'll be able to do in a billion years.

Unless we self-destruct in some way, I think only an asteroid impact could exterminate us, but as long as it doesn't happen in the next 1000 years or so we should be ok.

It might be pretty cool if it happens in our life time. Through out history everyone has always wondered how the world will end and if it'll be by a divine being. At least we would know the answer to that question.

What about an apocalypse where humanity and life is not destroyed, and everyone is against everyone else in the hunt for food and shelter? Yes, Undoubtedly, humanity will end, but I am trying to get opinions on what will happen when civilization breaks down!!! When there are no police or military forces, new factions start forming, and you have to find ways to live through attacks and weather. how will you find water, food, heat, shelter? Will you evacuate your city or town? Go underground or join a new faction? Will you even survive the first riots, adn the attacks of riots and looters? USE YOUR IMAGINATIONS!! A slime draws near!
