I guess I've just been noticing it a lot more lately. Like when they crashed the plane for the second time on the island a few episodes ago. It looked like one of those History Channel documentaries.

I'm getting annoyed with Lost, particularly the whole fatalistic "whatever happened happened" bullshit. The logical extension of that idea is that whatever happen happens, which is the creedo of the lazy and ineffective. If they don't manage to fundamentally change at least one significant event in the past, I'm going to be REALLY pissed.

Loved the finale, hated that we need to wait seven months for the last season.

I really enjoyed the finale too, but it makes me wonder why the rest of this season couldn't have been this good. This season was really watered down with half-assed attempts to explain time travel, etc. Once they got back to the nitty gritty (focus on the relationships between the characters and their motivations), the show was amazing again. The conversation between Ben and Jacob was awesome.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |

I am hoping that the negative/reversed version of the LOST logo at the end is confirmation that Juliet changed things and not just some corny play on the white flash of the bomb.

I hope so too. Although I get the feeling it was supposed to play sort of like the "silent clock" on 24 when something serious goes down. Sort of like "this was a big moment, so we're going to change the status quo with respect to the fade out."

The silent clock is a great analogy.

*SPOILER*
The actress who plays Claire is signed on for next season, so things couldn'tve changed that much. At the very least, the island is still intact and the Oceanic Six landed on the island.

The finale was great. I've been reading all sorts of stuff on Lost blogs about Jacob and the Man in Black (I guess he's being called Mr. Dark now). Some theories are going around that they are two gods, and that Jacob is trying to prove to Mr. Dark that humans aren't all violent or something like that. And so that's why Jacob brought everyone to the island.

Tebor has dubbed the second character Esau, who was the Biblical Jacob's "evil" twin brother.
The conversation between Jacob and Ben really bugged me: "What ABOUT you?"
Is Jacob a fucking idiot? You went from calmly convincing a guy not to kill you to pretty much daring him to kill you in ten seconds. Well done. A lot of the deaths on the show happen because people are completely fucking stupid. Charlie's death, for example, was idiotic. Doors close both ways, asshole. And then there's Farraday. The smartest man in the entire world dies because he suddenly decided to act like a petulant child.

Yeah, I've heard about the whole Esau thing too and that they might be metaphors or some shit. And I do agree with you about the deaths on the show, a lot of them just seem meaningless. Farraday was one of my favorite characters, his death could have at least made me sad or something, but it was more like "Well, this guy's dead, now Jack's gonna do some shit with his diary!"

I am pretty sure that the next season it is going to reveal that Jack killed his father Christian in Sydney. We know from season 1 that Jack's mother sent him to Sydney to talk his father into coming home. We know that Christian was driven around by Ana Lucia and he met Sawyer, but it has never said how the dude died. Has anyone else thought of this before?

It's been official that Claire was coming back since before last season even aired, but Charlie and Shannon!? Will they be getting cast member status, or will they just be ghosts/flashbacks in a few episodes?

Most likely ghosts and flashbacks.

I hope they are just ghosts or in flashbacks. But what I remember reading was that they were coming back as full-time characters. I think its very unnecessary, they should have kept them dead.
