Yes.
While I can't seem to duplicate it on an emulator (the keyboard screws with my timing), Tyson isn't so hard once you learn his tells.
The hardest part isn't his one-hit uppercuts, it's his very small window for counterattacks and his "flurry punches" that don't stop until you run out of hearts.

Lots of people have beaten Tyson. There is no boss that can stand up to the awesome power of nerd dedication, but Tyson doesn't even need weirdo cheap stratagies or anything. Hes just tough.
Try beating the mirror match in God Hand without the Yes Man Kablam. Now thats pretty much impossible.

I wonder if Not Sure could go through the game without getting hit once.

I did once over the holidays not long after my brother gave me the cartridge. Must have been all the practice I had against the esentially-the-same Mr. Dream, who, oddly enough, I still haven't beaten.

Its really not that hard to do once you learn his pattern. He is pretty predictable, but it can be discouraging the first time you fight him and get knocked down in one punch. Its also very possible to do it without getting hit as well. I could never get a TKO in the first round, but after I knew what to do it was pretty easy to get a TKO in the second round.

I'm curious, has anybody here actually beat him in the first round? It never seemed possible when I used to play, but there are a large amount of Youtube videos getting TKOs in one round. Are they cheating or is it actually possible?

It's possible, though the videos I've seen doing it seem a bit too perfect.
My best is late round 2.

Same here. A lot of the videos Youtube shows with him going down in round one show him losing a lot more health per punch than mine usually do. I have hit him twice after every "dynamite punch", but I don't make him lose the same amount of health he does in most of the videos I see.

It's a timing issue. You can do more damage if you time your punches right.

I actually did beat tyson once. I snuck into his place with a baseball bat once and beat him while he slept...
But really, I don't have the cart (it's 20 bucks I don't have) and for some reason, I can't get past Piston Motherfucking Honda on a emulator. So I guess that would be a no.

I ran into the exact same problem. I was trying to record it for a video walkthrough, but for some reason the timing on my dodges was really off. It led to me completely giving up, since even when I managed to survive Tyson's super-barrage, I could never retaliate fast enough to hit him.
It did give me some cool videos of ducking under Sandman Punches and Super Macho Spin Punches, however.

Yeah Tyson's easy to beat.

Super Macho Man was the toughest IMO, or at the least the guy who gave me the most trouble. Kinda like in Super Punch-Out, how Hoy Quarlow gave me more trouble than both Rick and Nick Bruiser.

If you can survive his first 1:30, or however long his 1 hit knock downs last, you can beat Tyson.
You only are allowed 2 counter punches, to my memory, for any successful dodge against him. Stars, if you get them, are damn near impossible to land anyway so shouldn't factor in.
