I love movie previews. I know some people hate them with a passion. The only time I didn't want to see previews was during Star Wars Episode 1. It came out my last day of high school back in 1999. There were people selling sodas in the theater that drug out the opening of the movie(theater employees by the way). I remember yelling "Shut up and start the movie and I'll take a Diet Coke!" So they started it with previews. I even yelled "Fuck the previews!" I only remember one maybe because it involved space but it was The Astronaut's Wife.
But back to the topic...the internet, as much as I love it has ruined something I once loved about going to the movies.
I saw three trailers when I went to see Star Trek. One I had already seen(Inglourious Basterds), one for Up, and Transformers 2. You cheap fucking bastards! I only get 3 fucking trailers!? I remember just a couple years ago I could get a good six or seven trailers per movie. Fuck you! If you're going to charge me $7.25 for a daytime showing you should show more trailers...maybe give me a reason to come to the movies. Instead I get three trailers and I'll only see one of them, and how much I pray that Inglourious Basterds comes to local theater.

I want to see less trailers. I want to have my watching experience be about the movie I am seeing and not the movies I should be watching in the future.
Plus who wants to waste more time in a theater... they aren't exactly the cleanest, happiest, most amazingly wonderful places on earth.

We still get 5 or6 previews here except at Imax. When I saw Star Trek I had trailers for Up, G.I. Joe, Transformers, Night at the Museum 2, and I know at least 1 more I can't remember

The last movie I went to had about six movie trailers, plus a couple non-movie related commercials that usually air on television. I honestly haven't seen much of a decrease in them myself. I suppose it depends on what movie you see and where you see it.

I don't like the trailers, though there are occasionally good ones or at least I can make fun of them.

There's still plenty at my local theatre. However, the internet has ruined that for me, as any movie I'm interested in, I've already seen the trailer online. So, it's usually an even bigger waste of 15 minutes.

No kidding. What I really, REALLY miss are the days where theatres were QUIET before previews. No loud commercials screaming at you. Just some light music, and projected adds and trivia. Now going to a movie is one long (and loud) commercial fest. If I wanted that, I'd frigging watch TV.

I've never had more than 3 previews. We usually have 2, wich is fine by me, when I plan on see a movie, I don't like to see the preview...

you know what i can't fucking stand, those goddamn commercials before the previews. The Closer does sound like an awesome show but since i don't have cable and don't give a shit, i don't need to see a commercial for it every fucking time i go to the movies. It seems like seeing commercial i would see sitting in front of the TV takes away from the movie experience. The only pre-preview commercial i would accept is the Will Rogers Institute ones (I go to the Regal, could you tell) because cancer is evil and we need to kick it's ass. However, it seems like the movie goer is punished for getting to the movie 10 minutes earily, listening to retarded commercials that i swear are louder then the movie itself.
It seems that the commercials just suck the magic out of the movie, it just seems like I'm back home watching TV with all the fucking commercials and just roll my eyes, get bored stiff and when the movie starts the theater environment does not seems like anything special.
Case in point with Star Trek, i came into the theater right when the previews started and i thought i was really watching a movie in a theater and not on a big screen with sorrowed sound, like at my uncle's. I miss the old days when you had some crappy movie trivia on the screen and some soft music in the background, it made anticipating for the movie much more intense and when it finally started it felt a lot more special.
Fuck you Regal, if i wanted to watch fucking commercials for 20 minutes straight then i'd watch a damn infomercial for fucking free!!!

We don't get the commercials like that at the major theater in my area. They had some stupid commercials for local businesses and what not but nothing on the national level of commercials. I don't care for these commercials but I like seeing a good amount of previews.

I see a shit load at the regal, most of the time if it's a major new release, the minimum is always 6 and once i sat through 10. I kind of wish i was kidding . . . but i'm not.

Yep, I go to Regal too. Hence my commentary on the topic, and my complete agreement with you.

I'm fine with trailers. Show those all you want, just leave the fucking commercials on TV.
