I have never used or needed Craigslist's Erotic Services section, but I damn well believe it is fucked up to shut it down.
The government's face doesn't like immoral things like sex and drugs, but the general population craves that shit. The fact that they make it more difficult to access it just makes people look for other outlets. At least if it is all in one place it can be tracked easily.
Taking this a step further, I think that prostitution should be legalized and fucking TAXED. Sin tax that shit up! Treat it like cigarettes and alcohol. It is BS that it is ok to sleep with people for money in certain locations but not others. Just make it a legal profession and introduce harsh fiscal restraints.
Governments, hear me out, you can't fight it or stop it, but you sure as hell can profit from it. Might as well fix real problems...

I could not agree with you more.
Sad to see it go for people who wanted ass, but I guess this was stemming from the Craigslist Killer and other cases.

This won't impact Craigslist or CL prostitution all that much. It'll all just move to the "misc" and "casual encounters" sections of the personal ads.
We shouldn't legalize marijuana. If anything, we should find a way to make it even more illegal. Don't like it? Move to the Netherlands.

Marijuana killed our parents and several childhood pets.

This is retarded, if I met a girl through craigslist who was advertising a sweet living room set for sale and murdered her, would they stop offering sales listings?

If there is going to be a law regarding prostitution it should be a federal one. It doesn't make sense why it is legal in some states and not in others.
Also, I find myself asking why the government should even care if people sell the use of their private parts for money? People sell organs for money.

[Libertarian]The more things in control of the states, the better. I'm a strict supporter of the 10th Amendment, my favorite aspect of the Bill of Rights.
This is a large country, someone from one side of the country has no idea how life is at the other side. For example, why should I, someone who has lived in Illinois my entire life, advocate federal laws that tell someone in Idaho how to live their life, when I have never been there and don't know how they have it? On the same note, why should someone in Utah, tell someone in DC or NY how to go about their life? Outside of basic laws against murder and the like, it makes no sense.
Government should be more concentrated on the local level anyway. The larger the federal government gets, the more bureaucratic it becomes, and thus more bulky, slower, and more corrupt & inefficient.
My default position for any controversial national issue is let the states decide. What's best for Hawaii isn't necessarily what's best for Kentucky.
States' rights![/Libertarian]

That's generally similar to my philosophy on it.
But I love making laws against things I don't like, despite the fact that victimless crime should be an oxymoron not a real crime and I would like to see these laws enforced on a national, hell, global level.
I was actually being serious about the locally controlled government though, being the libertarian that I am.
