After mindlessly playing this one game for almost a year, just simply passing the time, my friends got sick of me playing it so i said to them "Alright, if i beat the final boss 100 times, i'll stop playing video games for a year."
Little did i know that they would keep track and after the 100th time, they showed me the evidence, amazingly documented (and the fact you get rewarded with the same object after you beat the boss).
Now i am "on my honor" to not play video games till next April, which so far has not been too bad. I am only in the second week though, give it time and i will snap. I could of stopped playing, but the game was so addictive and the fact it was subtly annoying everyone was too entertaining to pass up. So yeah, that's why it was (somewhat) easy for me to delete my HL files. I might just try it too, i haven't been playing games much during the summer anyway so yeah . . . i can do this . . . . . . . . . . . i can do this . . . .
Who wants to bet i'll crack before June?

This.
Also I could never do that, VGs are too much of my lifestyle (not saying I don't do other shit). Games just help take the edge off an awful day sometimes.

Gauntlet Legends for the N64. That game is underrated and a great time killer.

Loved that game, but could never get very far going solo, and my friends rarely wanted to play it. The number of enemies eventually gets too big without other players taking some of the load.

I grind heavily for experience until i became so powerful, when my mage sneezed he slaughter 20,000 dudes and i figured out the right item combo to beat the boss in under 1 minute with minimum dam. . . damn, i truly am a nerd.

I bet you'll never make it past July without at least touching a controller. Hell, I bet it'll be a miracle if you make it to June.

Ah Gauntlet Legends. I have played that game in a long time. I remember spending days getting all of the extra classes and maxing out my characters. I had the PS2 version though, were their any differences aside from graphics and/or processing capabilites?

I bet the PS2 version provides a deeper experience.

I have no idea about it's availability, sorry. Gauntlet Legends is basically sequel of sorts to the game Gauntlet released on the NES (That was the system I had it on, I bet it was on other systems as well I just remember originally playing it on the NES. I'm pretty sure it was in arcades as well). If you're familiar with Gauntlet it has a similar playing style, however you can level your character up as well. Every character class plays a little differently, however they all through projectiles whenever you're not engaging an enemy in close-combat. Classes also gain new monikers for every ten levels (I think it's every ten levels, it's been awhile) which not only changes your characters title, it also gives them slight changes in appearance. If I remember correctly you can also get a familiar unique to each class after your reach a certain level. Once you reach level 99 I don't think you unlock any new changes in appearance though, however you do get the title "Legend" and gain resistance to leveling down.
I think I need to buy a new copy, it's been so long since I've last played.

Probably, regardless it's a fun game on any system. My only regret is that I never got to take advantage of the ability to have four players on screen.

Me and my buddy played that endlessly on weekends as a kid, it was great, never beat it and got stuck trying to figure out where to go and replayed it a lot but damn it was fun.

you know what's sad, i've played the game so much that i can get out of being lost in under 5-10 minutes. In fact the maps are so burned in my memory, i probably could do it blindfolded.

When I was four, I was scolded for something related to videogames (became too aggressive/violent while playing I think) and couldn't play on my NES for a year.
At that point my sense of time wasn't too great though, so it might as well have been 3 months.
But seriously, good luck. I don't think I'd last a week, even though I play much less than I did last year. At least you still have the internet. Now THAT would be completely impossible to go a year without.
