I've posted about a lot of my Xbox problems in the past, and now the thing has decided to just give up. From what I've read/heard I have some sort of RROD. When I checked what the error was I literally got "unknown error" so it has no idea what's wrong, just that it can't do anything anymore. So basically I'm left with a broken Xbox without a warranty, and I'll have to pay $100 to fix it no matter what. I've never felt so damn poor in my life. I've had this horrible poor headache for a few days.
EDIT: Its a 360, not an original Xbox.

Last time I saw it, it was about $150 for the original X-Box
360 was around the same price as a new one, approximately 170 from what I can recall...

Well, you could probably get a used arcade unit for around $150, since they are only $199 new.

You swap your already existing hard drive, and also get the onboard memory, and the newest revision of the motherboard. ("Jasper" Which has 65nm CPU and GPU, and draws less power at only 100w. So it runs way cooler, and should be much more reliable in the long run.)

EDIT: Oh... you mean Xbox and not 360...

You can get a used Xbox for like $50 at most hawk shops. I'm not sure what Gameshit charges, if they even still sell them.

We have a store where I live that sells running XBOXes for 35 bucks, and unrunning hulks for 1-5.

if its the RROD then XBOX should fit it for free if its within 3 years of its manufacture date.

Be careful on the site, its tries to confuse you into thinking that you need to pay for something(different type of errors that are less common and not under the 3 year) when in actuality you can ship the unit to them for free.

Gamestop should not be able to take trade ins unless your like 16 because they rip off so many kids who don't know what they are doing.

Employees are required to upsale even if the consumer has no interest in the suggested product.

Who the fuck needs to hear verbal advertising while you are already buying something? It is annoying.

Unfortunately GameStop is notorious for taking it a step further. Almost every single time you buy a game you will be offered another physical product, a membership, and the suggestion that you should put money down for a game that is coming out in 5 months.

The worst part about this is that the people who are working in the stores are usually excited about games. They usually want to tell you what you should and shouldn't buy. A few days of working at GameStop will sure as fuck make them hate the world of gaming. They have to sell shit they don't like. They have to upsale shit they don't like. They have to presale shit they don't like.

I would rather buy from Amazon.com or BestBuy. Fuck the in store interaction, I'll find out what I want to buy from Sydlexia.com's Top 100 NES game review or for something more current I'll visit MetaCritic or something.

I look forward to seeing how the new CompUSA works. You will be able to comparison shop against their prices while in the store. It is an amazing concept and one that might put them out of business in a week... or could turn their entire business around and make them bigger than BestBuy.

Teh Muthafuckin internet has a better selection than stores anyways. 99 percent of the time when you go in a store they don't have any of the things that you're looking for, and you end up buying something else so you don't feel like just wasted 45 minutes. So, yeah, the internet is much better than stores. I will also have to look for a gamecrazy somewhere near Assfuck, colorado.

I bought it from a friend (who I guess got it from another kid) and I called tech support after finding out I had to pay for it to get fixed. He said the it was bought in like '06 and that the warranty ran out in February.

Gamestop has problems for me.

1.They never have the many many games that I want. I note many cause theres about 20 games I would buy at the drop, so its not a matter of pickiness.

2.When they do have something tolerable, it usually lacks the case and has that ugly ass generic one

3. When I go to buy it, they only have the game about a quarter of the time. The rest are just zombie cases, with no associated game in the drawer.

4. They have a handy 7 day return policy, which is great cause the games are often scratched as all fuck.

So I've discovered the joy of internet purchases, which give you extra discount for missing case or manual, always have what I'm looking for, and always work even when used.

Every GS store I've been to requires you to be 18 to trade in.

I just don't like them because they constantly try to rip you off and they don't have lesser-known games.

My first 360 broke in 2006. It was past the warranty and I was out of luck. I bought a core system and put my hard drive on that. This was before they offered an extended warranty for the red ring, but mine was not a red ring problem. My DVD drive on the 360 stopped working. The gears were all fucked up. I heard rattling in the case and so on.
