Fuck yes, in my top five favorite shows of all time. I still watch at least one or two eps a week. "A Touch of Satan," "Final Sacrifice" (ROZDOWEEEER!) and "Time Chasers" are easily my favorite, but its damn hard to find a bad episode.
Mike was always my favorite host. Not that Joel was bad, but I found Mike more entertaining, plus I enjoyed the way he didn't take shit from the Bots or the Mads/Pearl. Mike ftw! (Plus he was head writer irl, which automatically doubles his awesomeness.)

I've heard of these. Since Mr. Nelson's involved I'm inclined to assume its awesome and funny and well worth the cost. In spite of reading their FAQ, though, I'm still a bit unsure as to how it works--how do you sync the video with their commentary? And am I correct in thinking they are awesome and worth the money?

I think for two reasons. Because a) they aren't playing characters like they were in MST3K, and also, the only thing being sold is the audio riffing; you have to have the movie already yourself. So it would be impossible to superimpose the guys in the theatre unless you did it yourself with cardboard or something. Which don't get me wrong you could do, but yeah.

I'm definitely a fan. I have all the official releases as well every other episode on DVD-Rs. I also have many of the Rifftrax, all of the Film Crew movies, and all of the Cinematic Titanic movies. I also have all of the Satellite News issues with the exception of the first two.

I think everyone is a fan of this show. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to watch an episodes with my full attention since they used to play it on Sci-Fi on Saturday mornings years ago. Jeebus frequently puts it on at the comic shop, but I'm too busy losing draft to pay attention

Mike was definitely my favorite host too. Joel, I never got quite into. MST3K seemed to have always meant to be for Mike. Once hosts changed the grand design was obviously, it was the Mike and Robot movie review show.

When I look back over the whole history of the show, I really think Joel was a better, funnier host than Mike. Am I alone in this feeling?
Hardly. In fact, both Joel and Mike have themselves been asked which of them was a better host, and both of them gave the same answer: Joel. Joel is beloved by just about all fans of the show.
At the same time, when Mike took over the hosting duties, the vast majority of fans quickly came to love him, too. Mike has his own performing style, and comparing the two is really comparing apples and oranges. Each is good in his own way. Of course, Joel created the series and made a vital ongoing contribution to it when he was its star, but those who say he is "funnier" might want to keep in mind that MST3K scripts have always been a team effort, and Head Writer Mike Nelson and the rest of the writing staff were writing a lot of Joel's dialog.

Joel was always more of a father figure to the bots on the show, where Mike was about on par with them, and was one of the 'kids'.
I like them both, but most of my favorite episodes: Manos, Santa Conquers The Martians, Mitchel, and The Pod People where all when Joel was still around.

I like Joel more, and I think most of the long-time fans prefer him as well, if I remember correctly.

The whole Joel vs. Mike debate always reminded me of the Connery vs. Moore one.

The movie bashing I love, the scenes taking place between movies I do not care for.

Isn't that copy-pasted directly from the MST3K faq...?
And anyway, whatever Mike may think of his own hosting abilities, I disagree. Mike was the superior actor imho, and had more range when it came to the way he played a joke. Which in turn allowed for more variety in the types of scenes they did. (Again, that's not to rag on Joel at all, who I love and who is awesome and funny. Just a personal observation.)
Blackout, I'm curious: have you watched the show long enough to get to know the characters a bit? I used to hate those too, until I started getting the personalities of the bots, and the way the characters interacted.

LOL, yeah but its such an effective use of rhetoric that I couldnt help myself
(As a historian I have to cite everything I use in real life, so its fun to plagarize when nothing is on the line)

Nope. I'm mad because you lack intellectually and socially... and you make it glaringly apparent sometimes.

You really should have provided a link or something Ermac.
As you're sick of school, I doubt you'll go to grad school to become a real historian. If you ever decide to, you'll have to read the following book about different forms of dishonesty in the history profession, I suggest you read it now:
Past Imperfect

I hardly use any brain power on this forum because I am so exhausted from school that I come here to actually be stupid and silly. I am not trying to spark some intellectual debate here because its pointless and its the internet. I usually make a quick ass post, go take a shit and come back later that day to see how the thread has progressed.
My question is why so serious?I see people on here who feel the need to be serious on here when in actuality they are slackers who aren't doing anything with their life and have a wealth of knowledge that won't pay them anything. Not saying you are, yet its apparent around here to the people that eventually leak it out through their posts.
I have been obnoxious lately, but I am under stress in my real life situations. Overlook me if you could. I consider everyone my extended family here and would actually go out of my way to help them if they lived nearby if they needed something.
