Why is there so much hate towards this font? There is a movement that wants the font to be banned.

Oh that is just crap.
It is a fine font and just like all others has its purposes.
Anyone who can dish out that much hate for a font really needs to go and fucking get a life.

Is this a joke? Seriously? All this hubbub over a font? Ridiculous. I've always liked way the font looked. And in the article, it says that Comic Sans is the "bane of graphic designers". It's a FONT, for pete's sake!

Comic Sans IS crap. While I don't believe in it's aboloshment, it is the most over used, abused, piece of trash font out there.

How is it overused? Aside from this site, I've never seen another semi-popular site use it. Everyone else uses either Times New Roman, Arial, or Verdana.

I've been using Comic Sans for messaging programs for years. I honestly like the font, but its use is limited. No reason to ban a fucking font. How retarded is that?

It's just a font. I really don't understand all the commotion. It's legible. It's a font. End of story.
Then again, I'm sure their are alot of introverted people who have nothing better to do then to complain about something so trivial.

Banning a font would be impossible no matter how idiotic or undecipherable *cough*wingdings*cough* it is.
How are you supposed to get it down? Email every webhost out there telling them to email all there clients to get rid of the font? Then there are the web hosts that are out of the USA. I suppose they could try for the people who have there own servers.

Wingdings, Dingbats, all deserve to die.
Also, Comic Sans is an awesome font, and easier on the eyes than Times New Roman imo. (YES, I WENT THERE.)

I'm sure it could begin with most Word Processing programs having Comic Sans removed as one of their default fonts and sending out a few OS updates that remove it from Word, Works, etc. It isn't impossible to imagine them at least making the font obsolete, but it could never fully be removed.
And no. The last thing the internet needs is for you to blog in it.

Best "default" font is definitely Helvettica. I guess if you want to support Microsoft and it's blatant thievery, you could use Arial.
EDIT: As a side note, my old Graphic Arts teacher would fail anyone who used Comic Sans in a design or spread.

Also a note: It's not introverted people its more than likely a bunch of uppity graphic artists who care more about it than everyone else because it is their specialized field.
Let me compare it to something you may care more about. It's like the Madden 20XX of videogames. It serves it's purpose, and appeals to a lot of casual gamers that maybe aren't as interested in some of the more in depth games out there. You being a gamer, don't really like madden and prefer TF2 CS or whatever strategy game out there. I think it's silly to abolish madden, as it has a large following, but it's still looked at as an inferior gaming experience to those more seasoned gamers.
