This comes out June 16, but it isn't really a new game. Instead, it's popular tracks from the first three Guitar Hero games and Rocks The 80s redone as full band songs.
Confirmed tracks include I Love Rock N' Roll, Bark At The Moon, Message In A Bottle, Free Bird, and Through The Fire And The Flames.
There will be about 50 songs in the game.
It will be sold as a full retail release.
All my GH stuff is for the Wii, because I started with GH before I had a 360. I had been trying to track down a cheap used copy of the GH2 bundle for the 360 so I could play "Cherry Pie", but if they include that in Smash Hits, I guess I won't have to.

I vastly prefer Rock Band over Guitar Hero (also, the fact that Smash Hits is being developed by some relatively unknown studio instead of Neversoft may or may not be a good thing), but if this game has Search And Destroy, Rock This Town, Metal Health (Bang Your Head), Welcome to the Jungle and Sweet Child O' Mine, I will certainly buy it.

i like both GH + RB, but i hate how GH forces you to buy different games for some of the same songs.

No Symphony of Destruction, Ziggy Stardust or Infected? Oh well, at least I'll get to destroy my voice with Bark at the Moon.

I saw this list on another video game site yesterday. This game will be an epic failure and may very well be the first Guitar Hero game I do not buy for a console. Odds are I'll probably buy it but this list just pisses me off.
I mean no fucking Iron Man by Black Sabbath!? No Judas Priest!? No Hendrix!? Fuck this! This is what you get when you let the "fans" vote on the songs. From now on let the professionals and the people who know what good music is pick the track listing.
Here is my list of the songs I'd include:
Helmet - "Unsung"
Judas Priest - "You Got Another Thing Comin"
David Bowie - "Ziggy Stardust"
Stevie Ray Vaughn - "Texas Flood"
Megadeth - "Symphony of Destruction"
The Ramones - "I Wanna Be Sedated"
Bad Religion - "Infected"
Black Sabbath - "Iron Man"
Queen - "Killer Queen"
Boston - "More Than A Feeling"
Queens of the Stone Age - "No One Knows"
ZZ Top - "Sharp Dressed Man"
Deep Purple - "Smoke on the Water"
Jimi Hendrix - "Spanish Castle Magic"
Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Higher Ground"
Edgar Winter Group - "Frankenstein"
Blue Oyster Cult - "Godzilla"
Pantera - "Cowboys From Hell"
Cream - "Crossroads"
Motorhead - "Ace of Spades"
Ozzie Osbourne - "Bark at the Moon"

You basically included the whole first game. They should just do what I said from the start: rerelease 1, 2 and 80's as a tripack edition for the ps3/360/wii. Charge 100 bucks and it'll be a smash for both parties.

That's only 21 tracks...they could have done that. Maybe around 15-20 per game, that's not asking too much in my opinion. If they did 15 songs per game that's 60 songs. Them not including stuff like Iron Man is just inexcusable.

I was exaggerating guy. What I don't get is why would they rerelease shit from part 3 when its out on all 3 current gen consoles. I know you'll be able to play drums and vocals but that game is too fresh. Oh well, at least CBFH is on it.

Helmet? Incubus? Seriously? Weak.
Speaking of GH1, here's an interesting question: All of the songs in GH1 were cover versions. Seeing as World Tour featured nothing but master tracks, will Smash Hits attempt to do the same?
Songs I want from GH2:
Warrant - Cherry Pie
Megadeth - Hangar 18
Strong Bad - Trogdor
Dethklok - Thunderhorse
Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil
Iron Maiden - The Trooper
Anthrax - Madhouse
Danzig - Mother
Rush - YYZ
Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized

Warrant is necessary to me. I still remember when the MTV countdown of the worst videos of all time had Cherry Pie as number one. That was the day I officially stopped watching MTV.

Was this when they used to do Top Ten countdowns in like 2 PM hour? I remember one "worst" countdown they did where Steve Perry's "Oh Sherry" was number one.
There was also a three hour special where a panel of comedians physically destroyed 20 videos that MTV would supposedly never play again because viewers had voted them the worst ever. I forget the full list, but "Girl You Know It's True", "Ice Ice Baby", and Nelson's "After The Rain" were all on it.

We have a half hour show every week that lambasts stupid videos. It's called Video on Trial.
Chris Jericho was even on it once, making fun of videos. If they made fun of Fozzy, I'd never watch again.

I was in high school at the time and remember watching it with my brother, so it was probably around '93 or '94. In any case I call BS for Cherry Pie and Oh Sherry too because I find it hard to believe enough people collectively voted for them. Even if a person didn't like those songs there is nothing that stands out about them to make a large group of people universally hate them to the point of thinking they are the worst of all time.

I hope so because some of the covers were not all that good. I remember playing Wrathchild on the 80's version and the cover was horrible.
Plus here is my Guitar Hero 3 list:
Guns N' Roses - Welcome To The Jungle(Not likely though)
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Suck My Kiss
Disturbed - Stricken
Alice Cooper - School's Out
Scorpions - Rock You Like A Hurricane
Slayer - Raining Blood
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Pride And Joy
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
The Rolling Stones - Paint It Black
Iron Maiden - The Number of The Beast
Weezer - My Name Is Jonas
Tenacious D - The Metal
Muse - Knights of Cydonia
Dead Kennedys - Holiday In Cambodia
Pearl Jam - Even Flow
Living color - Cult of Personality
The Smashing Pumpkins - Cherub Rock
Rage Against the Machine - Bulls On Parade

Oh my God if that is the version from "Official Live" I will jizz my pants. How awesome will it be to play the part of "Cat Scratch Fever" that Pantera snuck in to the post-chorus?
And I'm with Syd, give me YYZ to play on drums!
