If I only could
This is complete bullshit. Net neutrality has been proven to help the economy. Do the democrats want to fuck up America's economy even more?

You really think that this is going to get past Obama & Clinton? No fucking way.
But pretend for a moment that it slipped past and the companies got control of the internet.
A digital war would begin. Hackers/Crackers will target the bad guys and kick the ever loving piss out of them. The internet has never had a "bad guy" before, but companies that enforced bandwidth restrictions and content restrictions would be prime targets for a very capable and angry group of MIT graduates.
Google would step in and begin to offer a new type of service, an internet ISP service. They own enough physical infrastructure to do it, they just don't have a reason yet.
Private groups would invest in better Wireless options such as WiMax and offer unfiltered competing ISP services to towns.
Universities would get increased funding from Alumni to more effectively act as major routing points in the US.
So many things would happen, and quickly to avoid being sold down the river to shitfaced companies like Comcast.

I'm going to go with GP on this.
Also, from reading the comments on the article, it looks like this guys reader base are a bunch of conspiracy theorist nut jobs who believe there are communist cells infiltrating America and brainwashing our children. Of course I'm sure that I'm just a part of the socialist machine because I don't believe what they're preaching, despite the fact that I'm a moderate libertarian.

There's also Freenet. Slow as a motherfucker, yet it truly can't be controlled as it basically enforces anonymity. You can sign the material you write, of course, but there is no way of really determining whether you are the person you claim to be.

You should totally check out the IRC channel.
While you're at it, go check out my band, Her Majesty's Heroines.

So Time Warner drops it's bandwidth cap, because too many people cry foul, but Comcast still has its 250GB firmly in place. Fuck you Comcast.
I believe in time, they have to drop it, or greatly expand it. There is more and more online HD content that is going to require more and more bandwidth to transmit. Right now, only the 13-17 & 18-29 demographics use anywhere near the 250GB cap. But, as soon as grandma learns she can stream Matlock and Murder She Wrote to her pc anytime she wants, everyone's usage will climb.
I also agree with GPs outlook. The US doesn't own the internet. Comcast, Verizon, AT&T and the like don't own the Internet. If they start doing too many things the majority doesn't like, the people who DO own the internet will reign sweet fury down upon them.
Though, I would love to see this:
Comcast gets free reign to do whatever the fuck they want to censor and limit thier customers' internet usage. Angry hackers, crack their way into Comcasts systems, and collects all the private e-mails, phone numbers, and address of every Comcast excutive.
They give this info to the /B/tards...
The fun begins.

I guess it just comes down to who you believe will be the smartest programmers?
The guys who care and do it because they enjoy it, or the guys who gets paid to make everyone miserable.
My money is on the guys who just do it for fun. Take away their fun and you become their target.
