If you need to develop a "fuck you" attitude, try listening to a lot of Rage Against The Machine.

FUCK YOU, I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!
FUCK YOU, I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!
FUCK YOU, I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!
FUCK YOU, I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!
FUCK YOU, I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!

Unfortunately, this isn't the best attitude to have if you're in the Army. Also, Rage is kinda terrible.

Lmao! I've heard that song once or twice (movies, I think.) And nah, its not the best attitude to exhibit in the Army. But even leathernecks can fantasize about telling off their boss Wink . *goes to look up some Rage on youtube*

Edit: woo-hoo!

And NOW I remember where I've heard it: its one of my favorite songs to play on GH! Very Happy

eh, i think you got stuck in a situation you cant control hawk.

in any job, organization, etc etc. shit will ALWAYS roll downhill. meaning, someone mentioned you werent there to a higher up, they mentioned it to the next guy in line and so on and so forth, and by the time it reached you, you got stuck with all the bullshit everyone else added to the shitball.

it sucks, but it happens a lot.

an additional thing i wouldve done though, aside from sending the email, i wouldve also called and left a voicemail, that way i cover my ass twice. but as always, hidnsight is 20/20 so you just have to buck up champ, and move on

Sounds tough, hawk. You see, in the Marines, we never wait to chew ass or punish someone, we just do it. So your NCO in command is a puss for not ripping you a new ass in front of everyone at the meeting. When you didnt hear back you should have made it your business to confirm your absence was excusable by moving up the chain of command. Also, you need to develop THICK skin, if I took all the times I fucked up and dwelled on them I would have never gotten anywhere. I just took my lumps and moved forward. I have made some serious fuckups, far worse than that, and I laughed them off so as not to put so much pressure on myself. I figured out a long time ago that if you work your ass off and do your job well, you will move up in the ranks fast in the military, fuck up or not. So that is all, keep your head up, watch those who are in charge of you and remember that they are dicks, and remember not to be one when you are in charge. Thats what makes a good leader, learning from the mistakes of those who lead you. Also, Sunshine was the shit, thanks for the recommendation on that one.

So glad you liked Sunshine. Its one of my all-time favorites. Consider it a thanks for the good and straight-up advice.

I just wanted to bitch about my situation to friends more than anything. And you're also right that I should have followed it up; that's part of what I'm kicking myself for (although in my defense, I got tasked to go to the meeting at 11pm the night before, so I didn't want to phone anyone higher lest I wake them and REALLY piss them off.)

But yeah, spilt milk, move on. And yes...I will say that a lot of our OIC's are wimps about correcting and embarrassing people--the new kinder, gentler army and all that Rolling Eyes . Oh well. At least we aren't the Air Force. This Is A Joke
