What should the next Guitar Hero based around a band be?

Along those lines, I would love love LOVE to play some flamenco on GH. I doubt there's even close to a market for a whole game around it, but one song wouldn't be bad. Or even make it DLC (although I couldn't take advantage of it cause I only have a ps2, but still.)

Speaking of PS2, why do developers delay the fracking release date for my console all the time?? Is there actually a reason, or do they just want everyone to buy the expensive shit first?

A Zepp GH would be eff'ing fantastic, and would possibly make me cream corn my pants.

Cam, where the fucking duck is Today on the Smashing Pumpkins list?

Eh. I actually think Today is vastly overrated; I didn't think it was a big deal to begin with the first time I heard it, then when I heard it was arguably their most popular song (either that or "Bullet with Butterfly Wings", my first thought was, "Um...what?"

That, and the fact that it's already on Rock Band 2 and (I think) GH: World Tour.

Syd, aside from the Who, would you agree with me that a Rush GH would be pretty good? Although doing a Rush GH would be VERY risky since they are either beloved or hated by anyone whose ever listened to them.

I've mentioned the same thing... they would be PERFECT!

I love Rush, but I've never met anyone who "just kind of liked them" or "thought they were ok". You either love them or hate them...most people do because of Getty, but yeah.

Can you really do that on these games to ace the singing?

Yeah you can. Harmonix made the Karaoke Revolution games on PS2 and Xbox and you could hum on there as well. The singing part of Rock Band is basically Karaoke Revolution.

There are also a couple songs that just detect if the microphone is picking up sound. The Beastie Boys songs and Give It Away by The Red Hot Chili Peppers do this. So you can just put the mic up to a speaker to get 100% on the song. Give It Away does have one small part where you need yo match the pitch but the rest of the song just detects if the microphone is being used.

You know, a drum based Guitar Hero based around Dave Ghrol would be great actually. They could base it around his 3 diff eras; his Nirvana era, his Foo fighters era, and his brief QOTSA era. Guest acts could include Travis Barker, Lars, Pete Townsend, Neil Peart, Nicko McBrain and Stewart Copeland.

I see Aerosmith the same way though. People either love em or hate em.

A Rush game would be DAMN fun.

Along the same the lines, Dream Theater would be awesome, but that will NEVER happen.

Rumor of an all-Van Halen themed Guitar Hero game have been around for a little while now, but Activision has yet to confirm it. Now, as is often the case, it looks like a ratings board beat them to it.

The German Voluntary Monitoring Organization of Entertainment Software (or, in the far more awesome original German, the "Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle") has posting a listing for Guitar Hero headlining Van Halen, for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. While this does seem to confirm that Van Halen is next in line for the Guitar Hero treatment (following Aerosmith and Metallica), it does also seem odd that Activision has stuffed the word "headlining" into the title for what seems like no particular reason.

In any case, when last we heard about the possibility of a Guitar Hero Van Halen game, rumor had it that it would release sometime this year -- along with Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits and DJ Hero, and evidently Guitar Hero 5 and something called Band Hero. That's a whole lot of musical heroism supposedly on the way (and probably a few more ratings leaks, too).
