GameStop-Exclusive Interview with Ric Flair
1. How did you become a part of Red Alert 3: Uprising?
My agent got the call from EA – there are a lot of longtime fans over there and they were interested in putting me into the game. We knew that this was a great opportunity and it has proved to be a wonderful project.
2. What has it been like working with EA and becoming a part of the Red Alert franchise?
Everyone at EA has been professional and easy to work with. The production is quite impressive – more like a movie or TV than what I expected of video games. It’s a great honor to join a cast with the history of Command & Conquer and Red Alert, to join the ranks of people like Malcolm McDowell, Tim Curry, Jonathan Pryce, James Earl Jones, George Takei, and my fellow athletes like Randy Couture . And of course, the women of Command & Conquer are HOT. Wooo!
3. So what exactly is your role in the game?
I play Commander Hill, a disgruntled vet who returns to action when he doesn’t particularly like the way the new commanders are handling the war. I’m there to remind them of what’s important and most of all - how to get the job done the old school way.
4. What excites you most about being a part of the Red Alert series?
I loved being in front of the camera again and the opportunity of performing in a new industry. It’s very cool to be a part of a storied franchise like this and I can’t wait until my kids and friends can challenge me in the game! And of course, being on the set with Gemma Atkinson didn’t hurt!
5. Over the years, you have been featured in several video games; are you a gamer, and if so what types of games do you enjoy?
My kids are avid gamers and they enjoy the EA Sports games that they have. It’s amazing to see how far video games have come. Of course, now that Dad is in a game, they are big fans of Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising! I can’t wait to see them take me on in the game as I talk trash back to them!
6. In Japan there are rumors that touching a lock of your hair can cure life-threatening diseases. Is this true?
The Naitch has many powers - that’s just one of my talents. Wooooooo!
7. Which past or present professional wrestler do you think would make the best President of the United States of America?
One man - Ric Flair. Get the bumper stickers ready - Flair 2012!
8. Is it true that the sequin covered robe that you wore to the ring at WrestleMania XXIV is going to be placed in the Smithsonian?
My robe, boots and trunks from Wrestlemania XXIV have been donated to the museum, so the Nature Boy is forever enshrined in Americana. You can go to DC and see what I am sure will be the most popular exhibit at the Smithsonian! To paraphrase myself, it’s the newest ride…with the longest line.
9. Where can I go to get a good quality harmonica in Toronto?
Edge would know!
10. Now that you are retired would you say you are still a limousine ridin', jet flyin', kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin' son of a gun.
There is no question about it. The Nature Boy is like his favorite glass of Pinot…I get finer through the years. And…Space Mountain – it may be an older ride in the park, but it has the longest line.
11. Did you know I can drink a gallon of milk in 10 minutes?
That’s impressive…but in my busiest year, I wrestled thousands of matches in hundreds of towns. And believe what you’ve heard – The Nature Boy would party all night long in limousines, leer jets, and then go to the ring and wrestle for an hour before another night on the town the next night. Can you top that?
12. When you are typing an email or writing a letter do you ever add your trademark “Wooooooo”, and if so, what is the proper way to spell it.
WOOO! 16 times the heavyweight champion of the world.
13. Red Alert 3: Uprising will be available as a digital download in March. Can you tell our consumers what exactly that means?
That means that in March, you can go online and download the game straight to your computer. It’s the wave of the future, and you can download it at GameStop.com. Come March – be sure to download it! Wooo!
