I remember when the first HD episode of the Simpsons aired, they changed the show's opening. I thought it was kinda cute. They had changed the show's opening for the first episode after the movie, so as a one-off experience, I didn't mind. But that opening has become the show's PERMANENT opening, which is fucking retarded. Why change the show's intro after almost 20 years? What fucking purpose does it serve? NONE.
This once again reinforces my basic world theory: change is unequivocally and unilaterally bad.

It doesn't really seem that big of a deal. Seeing how the show has changed and added more characters a new opening even seems appropriate. At least it's not that different.

Ok Norm MacDonald.
It does seem odd to change the opening this late in the show's run.

Im surprised they even still have intros if the commentaries are to be believed the writers hate them at this point and they take up valuable show time as more time for commercials is allowed.

Remember, if you will, that this is the second change. It changed the first time between the first and second season.
Then again, watching the first season again is almost like watching a completely different show. not only that, I prefer non-jerkass Homer... I miss him.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas. |

Oh yeah, I keep on forgetting that. I remember after I bought the 1st season dvd being surprised by that. I couldn't remember from watching it when it first ran.

Well this is new news for me, considering the fact I don't even watch The Simpsons anymore. Hell, I seldom turn on my TV nowadays.

Has anyone else still watching noticed that since the switch to HD, the writing and stories have improved significantly?

Okay, since no one's answered my question in eleven days, here's a couple more: Did anyone else watch tonight's episode? And if so, did they notice that, for the second time in the show's history, a character has COME BACK FROM THE DEAD?

The Simpson's Tropicanified their intro... bad bad bad.
I suspect a recall will be coming soon.

I just saw the one where Moe dates a Midget, not that bad really.
AHH she just turned into a doll! Nah I do that sometimes to freak people out.

Yes. And yes.
Producer James L. Brooks said in an interview shortly before Season 19 that Dr. Nick would come back at some point. You knew he had to. He's too damn awesome. Plus he didn't necessarily die. We saw him badly injured and dying, but it's a cartoon. Obviously it wasn't as bad as it looked. Also, this is the second episode to feature Dr. Nick since his death. He had a cameo in that episode where Bart finds Denis Leary's cellphone.
And the writing does seem to be improving. But at this point, it's kinda like putting lipstick on a pig. Years of bad writing have hurt the show's reputation irrevocably.

Do you really think it was that bad Syd? I mean yes it took a nosedive, but considering how good Simpsons was in the first place, I felt like even at its worst, it was still better than 99% of the other stuff on TV.
I agree it has been moving in the right direction lately though. Good to see. Not quite feeling like old times yet, but feeling like we may get there, or at least close.

I thought the new episode was great. Moe episodes are always good.
However, I felt the ending was kinda rushed/tacked on and definitely felt like the weakest part of the episode.

i have pretty much came to the conclusion that the Simpsons have 3 or 4 good episodes a season since the decline that started in Season 10.
A good Simpson's episode is sometimes worth sifting through the mediocre ones.
I now usually dislike any episode dealing with
1.Krusty
2.Apu
3.Marge mad at Homer
4.Something up Lisa's ass
I usually love episodes deal with getting to know the extreme minor characters such as Otto,Gill, etc.
