I am playing Persona 3: FES and damn am I addicted.
For those who don't know P3F is a RPG set in Japan. It is actually pretty psychological. For part of the day you go to school and make friends (and girlfriends) and overall build your characters stats. After school you can hang out with friends, go shopping or whatever. But after school you go fight these dark monsters. You fight them with swords and your Persona, or other soul. You summon your other soul by taking a pistol, putting to your temple, and pulling the trigger. Then you summon your persona and unleash your attack. Sounds weird but it really fits the game nicely.
I am playing that and trying to beat Pokemon Pearl by Sunday and trying to hack my PSP since my pandora's battery came in. I am having a lot of fun playing these games but dammit. I have no time to get online! So that is my apology. And a bit of an ad for P3F.

I hoped it was good. It's been sitting on my hard drive for like 3 months, I just haven't gotten around to burning it.

As good as Persona 3 is (it's fantastic... my total game time is somewhere around 220 hours and I'm not even counting "The Answer"), I ended up liking Persona 4 even more. Both are definitely awesome.

It's amazing how many of life's problems are solved by indiscriminate cannon fire. |

I think Persona 4 is better, but that doesn't make Persona 3 FES anything less than a 8.5 on a real 10 point scale (where 6 is good).
The secret to Shin Megami Tensai games (hereout to be known as SMT) is to be patient. Theres a long wait before you get to do anything, the dungeons are tough (watch out for the giant Crying Tables) and you don't have enough money.
Later on though the persona creation system opens up to you and your making decisions about which head honcho of mythology to keep and which arent pulling their weight. For example, if you decide to dump Surt, fire giant king of norse mythology who will burn the nine world down at Ragnorok, ya know, cause you don't want to lose the ice damage from Scathach the warrior queen who trained none other than Cu Chulain and you need room for Lucifer, as in the bible Lucifer.

P3FES is excellent, I enjoyed it a lot. I spent close to 100 hours on the main story, and another 50 on The Answer.
Though, as everyone else says, P4 is slightly better, mainly because you can control the other party members, if you set their tactics to "manual control", which was absent for Persona 3 for whatever reason.

Gah. So I've decided. I actively avoided going to Tartarus. Why? Because I wanted the interactions with classmates (and girlfriends) to happen SOONER.
:/
I think I am playing the game wrong.

Boss!
This game sounds awesome. I've seen it around, but I never thought about playing it. How is the battle-system? Is it real-time or turn taking?
Either way, it sounds pretty cool.

Lottel: Grinding out levels is a waste, when you get a level for every 2 ranks in a S.Link. Plus, climbing the very abstract tartarus is not nearly as enjoyable as seeing all of these weird people and their stories.
Whats your favorite S. Link so far?
Neutral-Bob:Turn based battle system. With a heavy focus on hitting elemental weaknesses, and creating powerful Persona's through the suprisingly deep fusion system.

Does the fusion system work anything like the ones on SMT's DemiKids or Devil Summoner?

Yeah, You have to talk to Igor to perform the fusion, only it's more with Tarot Cards as the fusion happens

Interesting. If I ever beat all of the games I have piled up I might consider buying it.

Well, I am enjoying the courting aspect. I am trying for Yuko right now. And maybe the shy chick with glasses. Kaz is pretty interesting but Kenji pisses me off.
I am focusing more on the ladies right now. But now that I have Fuuka, I will probably be in Tartarus more. Maybe.

I've always wanted to play this series of games but my PS2 keeps dying before I get the chance.
