I kinda assumed the real gift was the videos and songs loaded on there, since they were reminders of her trip to the US *shrug*. At least its a personal gift, which is rectifying the error a lot of people said Obama made with the DVDs--too impersonal.

Like Burt said, I don't think there's much you can get a queen that she doesn't have or can't easily obtain if she wants it. The point wasn't as much "here's an ipod" as it was "here's a symbol of the friendship between our two countries" (with the vids and stuff on them.) Granted its not hugely unique or historical, but it IS a gift that reflects who Obama is (big fan of using technology to reach out to people.) So I don't think its bad at all. Not amazing, but not bad.

And in other news, I can't believe I spent that many words discussing a gift exchange between world leaders...

Beef jerky and Mountain Dew would have been perfect. Any time my friends from Britain or Northern Ireland come over, we'll actually stop at a convenience store on the way from the airport to pick up a month's worth of the stuff just because they're nuts for the stuff, but can't get it where they live.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

My grandmother is in her mid 60s (don't ask exactly how old - I don't know) and owns a Sega Genesis, with a few decent games. She only really plays Sonic 2, Columns and Super Monaco GP, though.
