This is all good and fantastic, but I will blow a load with NINTENDO written all over it if you can save VC games on an SD card, and it carries over to the DS. I have so much shit on my VC right now that I practically have Nintendo's whole library on a portable format (not counting emulators on my laptop) if they pull that shit off. They can do like Sony and allow it on one portable (having Wild Arms, Castlevania: SotN and others portable rocks my socks) to avoid piracy or whatever...

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas. |

Yea I am really hoping they incorporate something like this as well, it would be so convenient and makes so much sense.

I am hoping they release light gun games on the Virtual Console Arcade, starting with Operation Wolf.
Speaking of which, here are two major problems the Wii still needs to fix:
1. Mem Card support for N64 games on the VC. There is no fucking excuse for this one. No fucking excuse at all.
2. Light Gun support for console games on the VC. They released the NES version of Operation Wolf, and didn't bother to give you Zapper support via the WiiMote. There is no reason this can't be done. Nintendo will argue that they'd have to alter the game to do so and that corrupts the purity of the VC, but no such thing has to be done. There are emulators out there that let you play Zapper games with the mouse, and they use the original ROM dumps. All Nintendo needs to do is code a routine that tricks the game into thinking the remote is a Zapper. Easy as fucking pie. Furthermore, even if the original ROM has to be altered, it's not like it hasn't been done before. Wave Race 64 was altered to remove all reference to Kawasaki, King of Fighters had several flashing backgrounds turned into stagnant ones for fear they'd cause seizures, and Pokemon Snap was given a brand new point and click WiiMote interface. So STFU Nintendo and fix it.

Not to mention they removed the original block symbols from Ocarina of Time because they thought it was offensive to Muslims.

And since the Virtual Console Arcade is finally out, here's a list of games I want to see:
Splatterhouse - Namco
Pac-Man - Namco
Ms. Pac-Man - Namco
Galaxian - Namco
Dig Dug - Namco
Pole Position - Namco (Nintendo should also implement the Wii Wheel on it, too.)
Galaga - Namco
Outrun - Sega
Wonder Boy - Sega
Donkey Kong - Nintendo
Mario Bros. - Nintendo
Donkey Kong Jr. -Nintendo
Radar Scope - Nintendo
Street Fighter - Capcom
Street Fighter II - Capcom
Those are the ones I can think of. I know that most of them are already released on the Virtual Console in a different format (such as the NES version), but I want to see the original arcade version on it.
Also, I didn't mention either Space Invaders or Space Harrier because I know that they're already planned for release on the Virtual Console Arcade. |
Good list, I am really excited about the possibilities of the virtual console arcade. |
Me too!
And I forgot to add Frogger to the list. That game was made of awesome.

Haha, I was a frogger addict. My parents are as well actually. I remember I was so excited about the 3D remake they did on the PSX that I pre-ordered it (no one pre-ordered frogger). It was a great game though.

Aside from maybe Mappy, the launch titles in the arcade section are completely unimpressive.

Haha, agreed, but the general VC launch titles I recall being unimpressive. Mappy is great though, already snagged that up.

Not sure if it were ever possible, but I'd like to see D&D: Tower of Doom and maybe the old Simpsons arcade game.

Both games suffer from issues.
The two D&D games that Capcom made, Tower Of Doom and Shadow Over Mystara, were made under license from TSR. TSR no longer exists, having been bought out by Wizards of the Coast, the company responsible for Magic: The Gathering. While that is not in and of itself an issue, Wizards licensed out D&D to Atari. If it is an exclusive license - and they almost always are these days - then a deal must be reached with Atari in order for the game to appear on the VC.
Same deal with The Simpsons. Konami made the arcade game, EA has the Simpsons license now.
The game I'd really like to see on the VC might not make it for a different reason. That game, of course, is Revolution X. I have no idea what Aerosmith's feelings on the game are, but if they're embarassed by it, they could refuse to relicense it to Midway for the Virtual Console. They could also ask for way too much money.

I wasn't a fan of the arcade verions of PO and SPO, but I agree that they are definitely essentials for the VCA. I'm sure we'll see VS. Super Mario as well eventually.

Yeah, the launch titles for the arcade are rather weak, Pac-Man should've been among them. Then again...Super Mario Bros. should've been among the launch titles for the NES VC too...
