DS, DS Lite, or even DSi will work just fine (though with the DSi you won't be able to transfer pokemon in your copies of FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald). Playing on-line via wi-fi is free, you just need either a wireless router or a Wi-Fi USB connector.

Since I can't seem to set up a new poll question, I'll posit it here.
I'll be starting the tournament as soon as I beat Platinum's Elite Four and Cynthia. Currently I'm about to deal with the hold up at the Weather Center so you guys still have some time.
Do you guys want to use legendaries or keep them off-limits?

I think we should avoid using any pokemon of the uber variety, as I think it would push the power level of the teams too much. Likewise, I think we should have a limit on the number of OU pokemon on each team, which would allows a wide variety of strategies and would give everyone a chance at winning

Actually I was just thinking of making the only team restrictions being no more than one starter and one legendary (not all ubers are legendary and not all legendaries are uber).

see, but there are a couple legendaries I wouldn't care if they were on the same team. If a team has say, Regigigas, Regice, Phione, and even Uxie on the same team, but if I see a Garchomp and a Palkia (or pretty much any other uber legendary) together, I wouldn't be all that happy. Of course, I am bias in the matter, seeing as I only have access to a factor of the uber tier.
And on the note of starters, most of them are currently used in the UU tier, making them a limited threat, and don't really think they need restricting. Once again though, I am completely bias as the current build of my team has two starters in it
