Anyone else ever seen this? VH1 used to play it all the time. For anyone unaware, it's a film loosely based on the music of the Beatles, which features a star-studded cast covering Beatles songs in a disjointed plot that involves magical instruments. The movie is high camp, and the plot makes little to no sense, but it's an entertaining watch. Aerosmith appears in the film, and their hit cover of "Come Together" was originally recorded for the film. Despite being named after the Sgt. Pepper album, the movie heavily favors tracks from Abbey Road.

Additionally, Alice Cooper does a fucking amazing cover of "Because":

Also, Steve Martin does a RIDICULOUSLY campy cover of "Maxwell's Silver Hammer":

Yeah, I got it on DVD a while back, it's awesome. And Syd, how could you not mention Billy Preston's scene at the end?

I mean look at it, that is just pure win.

The Steve Martin video kinds of reminds me of his role as Orin Scrivello DDS in Little Shop of Horrors. This movie does look very interesting though since I am a huge Beatles fan.

It doesn't have much appeal in that regard, most of the songs are butchered, it's more for fans of campy movies. It's just a silly opera with people doing their music. It stars Peter Frampton and The BeeGees, 'nuff said. Also, according to Imdb, this was Steve Martin's first film role. Holy shit.++

<Drew_Linky> Well, I've eaten vegetables all of once in my life.
