Again, I'll reverse this if there's a huge comeback, but I'm declaring IceWarm the winner.
Good effort by hacker, though.
This contest is closed (but hey, if the polls are open, go ahead and vote if you want to try and turn it around)
You realize that this doesn't make any sense at all?
The contest is closed unless it is open?

Actually, it makes a lot of sense. The contest is closed - meaning for bracket purposes, Usa can write Ice in for the winner and never have to keep tabs on this topic again. However the polls are still open, giving people the option to still vote. I don't think there is a way to end polls early without being an administrator so it has to remain open.
...I'm sure you knew what he meant and were just trying to point out an inexistant contradiction - but you failed because he used separate words (contest, polls). Try again later.

Actually I didn't know what he meant and wasn't being sarcastic.
Also, your explanation still doesn't allow me to understand what he meant. I was under the impression that a thread starter could lock a poll. Also, I was under the impression that if hacker managed to pull out a victory, he would move on as the winner.

He is basically calling the contest early, but if by some sort of divine intervention hacker manages to pick up a shitload of votes in a short amount of time - he would be open to changing the winner. I really don't understand how you can continue to not wrap your head around this... are you really that short-sighted or do you just pretend to be on these forums?
Also, what makes you think hacker could pull out anything - his dad never learned to pull out so I can only assume that it runs in the family.

I have OCD... so yeah. I can be short sighted sometimes. My brain operates around rules. While my life isn't as dangerous as the following clip, perhaps it explains how I think.

I must admit. I don't think he can win. I also laughed pretty hard at this.

Orpheus had it pretty much right. It's kind of like when CNN calls DC for the Democrats at 8:00 PM. It's probably gonna be the result, but if for some reason it's not, they will change it.
Same here. I'm declaring a winner so we can move on, but if some people want to get their votes in, fine...and if there's an incredible comeback run, then so be it, I'll admit the mistake and change it.
