GP, it is part of graphics, I believe. Those are all considered "graphical effects." Therefore, it falls under Graphics, which aren't important anyways.

| Hahahahaha! You people and your video game judgements! I know nothing of these stats, I have my own complex rating system: It's called sitting down and playing the fucking game for hours and hours and days and days and weeks and weeks and years and years. Then, when I have a grasp on the general idea of the game, I comment on it. Gameplay ranks #1 followed by story for me otherwise the rest are garbage and therefore land into "grey area." |
Well, he certainly has the right idea.

for me, it depends on the type of game it is.
but in general it goes like this:
gameplay
story
graphics
music
sound effects
i can play geometry wars for hours and there is no semblance of a story anywhere. and the graphics arent even that great. but if its some sort of RPG, then the story has to keep me moving along.
i put music/sound effects near the bottom, mostly cause as a kid i had to play w/the sound down so as not to wake up the rest of the house. dont get me wrong, i enjoy the music/sound effects in video games, but they wont make or break a game for me.

I would put Gameplay at most important no contest. Music is important to me because it can help set the mood of a game. Katamari Damacy wouldn't be as fun with an epic score, and Resident Evil wouldn't be as terrifying with Jpop. Story is another thing of the utmost importants to me. Regarding graphics, what I've noticed it that the younger a person is the more important graphics is. In other words a young person would rather play the overall mediocre Halo, than say the A Link to the Past.

That makes me sad. Sure, Halo was good, but A Link to the Past was a hell of a lot better. It's statements like that that make me almost want to make the video game world exclusively for adults. Almost. . . .

"Almost" is the key word, ThatGuy. There are actually a number of younger people that appreciate the types of video games that the older people used to enjoy. I see them in this used game shop that I frequent.
So, there are younger folks that appreciate good games without high resolution graphics.

they're both good. but it depends on what my mood is. if im just in the mood to shoot someone in the head, then obviously halo is the way to go. and its enjoyable multiplayer. whereas LOZ is only enjoyable as a loner experience.
and they both had good graphics in respect to their console and type of game.
