Man... This is awesome. I would love to play some games on this or take some home video footage.
I imagine that the video footage would be huge, but this is why bigger hard drives keep being built.

That is wild. I am sure one day this process or a similar one will be scaled down and make it into homes. Given the amount of hardware used there I don't think it will be anytime soon though. To me 3D would be the next logical step in TV viewing. Given all the technology that has evolved over the years there has never really been a good way to view 3D movies at home. I bought LCD shutter glasses and some 3D movies to watch with them a while back, but the quality was severly lacking for some of the movies. Some were okay though, but even so after a while I got a headache from the glasses.
I'm not sure how much you would gain from this when watching movies or television compared to what you get with current 3D technology. The motion parallax feature doesn't really have much effect in this case since you don't constantly move your head while watching a movie. Stereopsis seems to be the more important factor. It's really interesting for video conferences and multi-player games that involve motion-based controls however.

I would love to see some movies or an episode of CSI: NY on that.

I saw this tech during G4's CES 2009 coverage, looks promising and unbelievabley complicated (and expensive) but the idea of 3D without having to wear glasses is a very attractive one.
