Is it like the nintendo street teams? A couple years ago at the NYSF, they had the Northeast Nintendo Street team hold a Super Smash Brothers Melee Doubles Tournament. I placed 3rd and won a hate, wrist band and a water bottle! Very Happy

It's a rewards-based registration program. You earn "coins" by registering Nintendo products on the Club Nintendo website. The coins can then be used to buy exclusive games and accessories not available in stores. This program has been available in Japan and select other markets for like 20 years.

They've already released the first Game & Watch collection on DS iirc.

Syd,

When I get my house (6 months or so) I will have access to my packed up Nintendo Powers & all the Sales materials and ads that came with them.

I'll scan them when I can.

I still have my old Nintendo Power magazines somewhere. I had a subscription from the beginning in 1988 until about 1994.

I registered all of my Wii and DS games and blew all of the coins on rewards.

One of them is Game & Watch Collection.

I just registered all my DS and Wii games, got 840 points and got the G&W collection. I'm annoyed at how many older games are exempt. Star Fox Command netted me ZERO points, which exactly how much that game was. Partners In Time, was also worth zero. WTF? I realize that the program only started in December 2008 and these titles a few years old, but they were franchise titles, dammit.

What if I had already registered them prior to this thing starting?

If you registered them prior to this thing starting, you may be out of luck. I am not sure. I had a MyNintendo account that I was automatically enrolled in back when I had Nintendo Power, and I registered some stuff with that back in the day to get a free copy of the exclusive MyNintendo Gamecube Zelda Collection. Those were all Gamecube titles though, so none of them were eligible for this anyway. Consoles are not eligible either.

Only Nintendo published titles are eligible for Club Nintendo points, and aside from a few special exceptions, games released before December 2008 are not eligible for Club Nintendo points. There is a FAQ on the Club Nintendo site, but as a point of reference, here is a full list of the Wii games released before 2008 that are eligible for points:

Wii Games
Animal Crossing: City Folk
Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree
Endless Ocean
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Link's Crossbow Training
Mario Kart Wii
Mario Party 8
Mario Strikers Charged
Mario Super Sluggers
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Pokemon Battle Revolution
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Paper Mario
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Wario Land: Shake It!
WarioWare: Smooth Moves
Wii Fit
Wii Music
Wii Play

Have you already registered any of these games? If so, try importing your MyNintendo account and see if you are eligible to take any registration surveys on them. And let us know.

I might wait on buying (and registering) future Wii and DS titles until June 30 before doing that again. That way, I'll have a better chance of getting a bunch of coins and getting more rewards.

I think you are misunderstanding how it works. A Club Nintendo year goes from July 1st - June 30th. Since Club Nintendo didn't debut in the US until December 2008, technically the first Club Nintendo year for us is December 1, 2008 - June 30, 2009. Points that you earn are good for two FULL Club Nintendo years, plus whatever's left on the current year. If you redeem points now (March 2009), they are good up through June 30, 2011.

Still though, earning lots of points in a Club Nintendo year qualifies you for special bonus prizes:

"Gold or Platinum status is based on the number of Coins earned in a Club Nintendo year. Each Club Nintendo year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. If you earn 300 Coins during a Club Nintendo year you will reach Gold status. Earn 600 Coins during a Club Nintendo year and reach Platinum status! Club Nintendo members that reach Gold or Platinum status by the end of the Club Nintendo year will be sent a special reward. Special rewards will be announced shortly after June 30 and shipped later in the year.

Your status will reset annually on June 30."

So if you can earn at least 300 points by June 30th, you'll get a special prize. If you get 600 points, you'll ostensibly get an even specialer prize. Maybe you'll still get the Gold prize too. Who knows?

The Gold and Platinum prizes will most likely be different for each Club Nintendo year, so it is probably in your best interest to try and qualify for Gold or Platinum Status by the end of this Club Nintendo year if you don't want to miss out.

So how do you register games? Do you have to scan the barcodes of all the Nintendo-related stuff you have? Or is there an ID number on the box or something (if that's the case, I'm screwed)?

There's an insert inside the game box with a code. You register that.

I must have misread that, then; even though I knew that your status was reset every year, I didn't know if Nintendo did the same with coins.

Oh well. I'm still excited to get Game & Watch Collection.

I had some account where I just registerred my games or whatever, but it seems like I'm only good for about 300 coins; I don't plan on surveying MP3 until I actually sit down and give it a run through. A lot of the stuff I'd registerred long ago just didn't come up as "to do for coins."

I have all of these and registered all of them prior to this Club, if they don't give me points I am definitely going to raise a stink about it. I'll have to look into it when I get the time.

Well, my copy of Game & Watch Collection came in the mail today. I played it a few times and I really like it a lot. It's so simple, yet addictive.

My only complaint for it is the fact that there are only three Game & Watch titles on it. Otherwise, it's brilliant.

Just a reminder post that anyone who attained Gold or Platinum status has had their status (but NOT their accumulated coins) reset and can expect to hear what they're getting by the end of the month.

Since, I'm poor, I could only register the games I had, and all I got was that Wii Remote Holder. No... just no.

Your points are good for 2 years, I think. They're definitely good for at least one year. You could have held out.
