So this thread is irrelevant for anyone who isn't in school as they have no classes, everyone in college as they have semesters that end in a couple months instead of 4 terms, and everyone in high school who's not a total slacker as they don't have a pile of old work to get through. That means what, maybe 2 other forum goers MAYBE?

See, it's not that I pick on hacker, it's that he makes fucking threads like this. For anyone who thinks I lock too many threads, please try to justify why this thread should exist on this forum, instead of just being a post in hacker's blog or livejournal or something.

The topic of procrastination isn't unique to hacker, but he didn't make this post relevant to the primary audience of this website. It wouldn't take much to do that.

It certainly isn't a mod's job to educate someone on "how to post", but since locking/deleting threads is a hot topic, perhaps it is worth the effort.

I personally think that there are too many blogs out there and would prefer to have a single post for a thought like this, but not presented this way.

*shrug* he's certainly made worse. I'm personally willing to go with it.

I can be a huge procrastinator too. Not always, but I too often end up digging myself into a hole in the end of the semester I have to struggle to climb out of. Some of that is just trying to do too many things at once and having only so many hours in the day, but certainly some of it is my own fault because I'd much rather be hanging out here (or doing whatever) than writing a paper.

It always seems to turn out ok in the end though, even if its not perfect. I'm sure you'll be fine. Smile

(Btw, are you on the quarter system? I know UCSC, where one of my sisters goes, is, and her quarter ends about the same time as your term.)

Whether there are too many blogs out there or not doesn't matter. The post, as written, best belongs somewhere like that. You are very right that this could have been written in a way where more people could engage, but it was not. In many instances, this could be the real crux of the matter (Though not in the case of "I'm leaving" threads, real or otherwise).

It's probably also a bad idea to sit around and debate the merit of a thread you don't like and/or don't approve of, unless its truly out of line and going to be locked or whatever. Life's too short to put effort into something that pointless. Just my two cents *shrug*

I think we need a SydLexia.com Forumers Detention Center. There will be regular beatings, but also education on how to write an engaging threat topic. I'm sure some people will never visit the SFDC, while others will be regulars. The beatings will be fairly violent as to suggest that the SFDC is a punishment.

You are allowed 2 bad post topics per month. After that, you are sent off to the SFDC where you meet Douche face to face to receive your reeducation.

This is why I do my best to ignore hacker, and not even respond to any of the nonsensical BS the child posts. I totally support Jeebus in this. Hacker is constantly making topics, and 99% of them are stupid and/or unrelatable to the board as a whole.

It's unfortunate and yes, grates on even my nerves, but what can really be done about it? Hateful backlash doesn't help anyone, and locking threads is just silly, unless they are like "you peepelz like cupcakez?"

I don't see the harm in letting people respond to something that he says, however badly worded it is. If it is that big of a deal, ban him, lock every thread he starts, or just get over it and let it be.

I can't speak for all, but many people seem to enjoy the posts I make. If they don't, they certainly haven't been blasting me out about it. Sometimes how something is written matters more than what is written. Sometimes, what is written doesn't matter at all, it is just about presentation.

I find some of your topics annoying GP, but it's not nearly as bad as it is with hacker, which made me ignore his posts. Most of the stuff you say is still interesting, so I continue to pay attention. You've become a mainstay of this forum, and an important contributor.
