I don't see a reason to do that right away, particularly when they're "saved for posterity" by the links in the opening post of this thread. Locking them, maybe, but certainly no reason to get rid of them.
In any event, doing it 14 hours after the poll ends is way too soon.

Jeebus, it appears that they aren't locked or open, they just magically disappear.
I don't see the harm in allowing them to be viewed while the competition goes on or beyond. Also if someone wanted to make a wiki article and reference each match, it would be impossible to do.
