I know. After 21, they all pretty much go downhill, don't they? :/

On the other hand, I can legally rent a car without the extra charges now. That's good. ...If I ever rented cars... :/

Seriously though, thanks again everyone. Vids and wishes were all wonderful, much needed and much appreciated. <3

P.S. This is for you, Vald: Very Happy

Heh, well....uh...*scuffs foot*...I woke up at 0400 to take a mandatory physical fitness test (passed, at least--that was my birthday present to me. The other birthday present to myself was the solemn promise to get my ass to the gym every day, rain or shine.) After that, I came home for about an hour to change and take a shower. (And found this thread--made my day, like I said Smile ). Then I had work teaching and tutoring high school). Then class (teacher education shit for my credential. Got a call from one of my sisters (currently studying abroad in Europe) to wish me happy birthday, and to tell me about the trip to Rome, Florence and Venice she has planned (I hate her lol.) Got home. Fed birds. Tried to make some headway on grading a few class sets worth of essays I need done. Uh...studied for an Arabic quiz tomorrow while listening to my Edmonton Oilers crush the Lightning...remembered it was my birthday again, and went to Jack in the Box to celebrate. Which would be pathetic if Jack in the Crack wasn't my favorite, favorite food in the entire world. Had a beer. More studying. Another beer. Sick of studying, decided to come on the forum, found this thread, and replied. Am currently planning to engage in some serious CoD 4 action afterwords. Then read for a bit, and bed.

...Yeah, that's pretty much what I did today. Wink

Naw, I'm not the get shitfaced type. I drink beer and like the whiskey cause I like the taste. I don't like the feeling of being drunk. A little buzz is nice, but anything beyond that and I'm not a happy camper.

Oh, and since you asked...Image Very Happy

How did you get involved with those pesky Oiler's when your from San Diego? They haven't been good since the Greztky years, unless you've been a fan since then which would be somewhat impressive.

Sadly, I'm not old enough to have been a fan for that long. I was only 4 when he was traded. I would give a lot to have seen the full Dynasty in action.

I've been a fan of hockey (and American football) for as long as I can remember, but I never really had an NHL team, I just liked to play and watch. Then I found out that Kurt Browning (a figure skater and one of my personal heroes) was an Oilers fan (he's from Edmonton.) On hearing that, I started researching the team and watching/listening to their games. This was back when their games were good and exciting of course. If I started watching now I doubt I'd be as pulled in, but since I've been rooting for them for what...over 15 years, its not something I can easily kick.

I've had the same problem with the (Dallas) Cowboys the last couple years. No real good since they lost Emmitt and Aikman (although Romo is coming along *crosses fingers*), but I've been rooting for THEM since the 80s. (Born in Texas...they were a way of life down there.) So even though they performed way way worse than they should have this year, I can't help but love them and watch the games.

I'm also a Cowboys fan, since the Aikman days, so I feel your pain. I agree, you can't just switch teams because your team isn't doing so well. Bandwagon hopping is the lowest form of sports fandom(not sure if thats a word). My brother and I both started watching the Cowboys at the same time, and as soon as they started slumping he hopped on with those damn Patriots.(I will never forgive him!)

As for a sports team being a way of life, I know exactly what you mean. My Dad brought us up religiously as Montreal Canadiens fans. I think if I were a Toronto Maple leafs fan, he would have thrown me out on the street.

Anyway, good on you for sticking with the Oilers after all these years, even if it was because of Kurt Browning.
