The GTA for the DS.

Apparently, if you preorder it at GameStop, you start the game with $10,000 and the best weapons.

Your thoughts?

That's a stupid incentive to pre order.

What's next PRE ORDER NOW AND THE GAME COMES WITH A MEMORY CARD WITH A 100% SAVE FILE ON IT!

This is an interesting topic. Do you consider promotions like this as "cheating"? As in, pay more for the exclusive version and the game'll be easier for you?

I agree. I don't understand why that would be a perk to people. Order now and start at the last boss! You won't even need to play the game!

This is no more ridiculous than people who spend real money to buy game money for World of Warcraft.

Nevermind the money and guns for pre-ordering, a GTA for a handheld? No thank you, I learned my lesson with Liberty City stories.

its actually received a good amount of praise so far. it looks interesting and i might give it a shot.

and the extras are probably for people that would use cheat codes anyhow, or for people who dont have time and just wanna fuck around.

I don't think a promotion like that is "cheating," really--I mean you aren't abusing the game or anything. It does seem a little weird to pay for a game you want to play...and the incentive to preorder is that its already partially played for you. :/

This is totally not Liberty City Stories, nor does it have the same feel.

That said, I'm totally on this one like a fatass on cake.

I'm surprised they didn't save this as launch title for the DSi. I would imagine it would greatly benefit from the added juice the DSi has to offer. Rockstar is claiming that Chinatown Wars will feature the biggest GTA environment ever. I find it hard to believe they can deliver on that, but it'll be interesting to see.

It looks reminiscent of the first two GTA games way back in the day with the top down view.

I find that hard to believe as well considering how large San Andreas was.

I thought that too, but I really wish Rockstar made San Andreas Stories instead of this...

Well, when you consider that you can see quite a bit less with the new camera, they probably have much, much less to render, and more room for a larger environment.
