Is there anybody else here that enjoys the 2D side-scrollers of old (Metroid, Blaster Master, Etc.)? I like 3D games too on occassion, but it seems like the only new side-scrolling games that come out any more are for the Nintendo DS. Are there any new games for the PS3 or Xbox360 that are side-scrolling (and good)?

If you had included the Wii, I would've said Mega Man 9 over and over and over and over and over and over...but you didn't.
I'm not sure if the screen actually scrolls, per se, but I've heard wonderful things about the 2D platformer, Braid, for the Xbox 360.
Oh, and for PS3: LittleBigPlanet. Period.

I'm ashamed to say I don't own a Wii yet. Mega Man 9 is awesome, and I am willing to say that without ever playing it. I saw enough of its gameplay that I know I would love to play it. If I had the dough that would honestly have been the best selling point in the world for me. It will be mine though (eventually). I bought a PS3 instead when it came out, and the only damn thing I use it for is for playing BluRay movies. I play the Xbox 360 for the games. I have the buyer remorse.

Also, if you get the Wii, you also have the Virtual Console. I know they're not new games, but they're still side scrolling games.

Still, playing it with the 360 controller feels awkward. Not bad, because the controller is the best one since the first PlayStation DualShock, but awkward. You can't play Mega Man without a controller that's just a D-Pad + two buttons.

You should totally check out the IRC channel.
While you're at it, go check out my band, Her Majesty's Heroines.

Actually, I've been playing through the NES Mega Man games the last couple of days using a 360 controller. I've been using the analog stick without really thinking about it.
