I'm a stay at home dad. I work from home. So I can't even go to work and make friends. The ONLY people I even know are my next door neighbors (very busy people) and a couple of the people my wife works with (her friends, not mine). Before I found this place, I was hanging out on forums like ESPN, IMDB, and GameFAQs. Those places aren't modded well and have such heavy traffic that there are probably more idiots than there are people with brains. So it's nice to have somewhere like this that is so laid back without all of the assholes.

Going to SydLexia.com and finding, like, 3 new articles. Holy shit.

Hacker could've also noticed how Tebor suddenly came back during his usual hiatus, or how Valdronius was unusually talkative.

This is the same for me.
First: Reading the Super Punch-Out article that my friend showed me.
Worst: When Syd bashed Qix. ._.

Also seconded. I'm living in a rural town in the dank underbelly of Redneck America, with virtually no contact with the world outside of a 20-mile radius of my town, so it's nice to actually talk with some people who respect your opinions and whose opinions are more than respectable. Plus, I can safely say that I've never had a qualm with another forumer (well, once, but that was irrelevant); y'all are such nice people!

I am sorta in a situation like you were I don't know anybody, the best thing I have realized to do is just go to the gym and work on a goal of getting in better shape(The Wife will love it).Its easy to meet people at the gym if you go regularly. It improves self-esteem as well a better quality of life comes from it.

I'm pretty new here but probably reading the Top 100 SNES list and having some cool conversations in the chat room.

I have been around a lot longer than I have been writing. I think I started checking out this site when I was working at my dorm's service desk back in '07 when I wanted to know about the top 100 genesis games. I never wrote on this site, partly because I didn't know what was going on. I read a shit load of articles, and then about a year ago now (maybe eight months or so) I got pissed because there weren't any new articles for like a month. So, I came on here and wanted to bitch about that, but I felt like being nice instead of being a cunt that day, so here we stand.
I do love a lot of articles on here, but sometimes I get irritated that there isn't a regular schedule of articles on here.
I would like to write one on something, but I have never really found that one thing. One time I was thinking about writing about "the regular guy's guide to Star Trek: The Next Generation", that had like a general "season" arc, but didn't get too geeky or anything. I would like to write that for this site someday.

I actually found this site in 2006. It took forever for me to join the forums.

Fondest: The Great Food Forum Debate of '08 good times i even posted on the short lived off site food forum
First: Some article jew sent me, I think it might have been the batman cereal and I thought it was funny and that jew should bring syd over to his site, and I didn't really come back till syd posted in the MX board and then i came over and read the rets of the archives
Worst: Whenever anyone leaves or says they will leave because the forums just arent as funny without them
Random: Tie:

Your idea wasn't stupid. There just haven't been enough tech topics to warrant a tech category. I once tried to start a food category, that didn't work out so well.

I'm in!
Fondest: Easy. So far, it's been staying up until like four in the morning (my time) on New Year's Eve with...I think it was Ross, Anorexorcist, enshinkarateman, Josh posting in the Paranormal Experiences, Area 51, and Cryptozoology threads. Good, good times lol.
First: Hrmph, I can't quite remember. I think I somehow stumbled upon the 100 best NES or SNES game articles via a google search or something. Loved them of course. Read the rest of the articles, loved them. Lurked in the forums for quite some time to get a feel for the place, and decided to hang around.
Worst: Ongoing, very time I stumble on a post by hacker.
Random: The feeling of awe and bliss I felt upon realizing I had discovered a place on the internet populated by cool people, with brains, who discuss things intelligently and give ideas (EVEN ONES THEY MAY NOT AGREE WITH OMFG!!!oneone!!one!!!) the weight and respect they deserve. Fucking awesome. |
That was not New Years eve, I'm like 99% sure it was much more recent because I was really drunk New Years and I don't think I was when I read that stuff and was posting about it, I thought it was like late Jan.-first couple days of Feb.
The 100 best SNES games brought me here.
Best/Worst moments, I have no idea, not too many really bad moments and there have been a number of decent moments. It's been an enjoyable stay at any rate.

Are you *sure*? I'm almost positive it was. I remember I was home alone because mom was at a New Year's party, which is why I found the threads so freaky at the time. I also remember thinking how sad it was that my mom was at a party, while I was sitting at home posting about Area 51...
Actually it wasn't sad at all because I loathe parties and Area 51 fucking rocks. (And the company was good, too.) But I'm still pretty sure it was NYE. Could be wrong, but I don't think so. Now I'm gonna have to go check lol, or its gonna bug me.
