So I pre-ordered the collector's edition of Street Fighter 4 for the Xbox 360 from EBGames almost two months ago and now the damned thing is on backorder. I was forced to put it on my Gamefly rental list just so I can play it while waiting for EBGames to ship the collector's edition. Hopefully I'll have it from Gamefly by the weekend. I hate resorting to renting a game I've already ordered just to be able to play it because the store can't ship stuff on time.

Your Street Fighter IV preorder most likely got sold to somebody else.

Well I pre-orderd it on their website and opted for it to be shipped to me since there are no EBgames stores close by. They'd better fix this shit because I want the collector's edition. If it comes to it I'll buy it from Gamefly to clear room on my game queue and then sell it to my friend when I get the collector's edition.

If there are more pre-orders than copies, someone has to wait. Sucks, but what can you do?

I only go into the store to preorder... never trust the website. But hey you gotta do what you gotta do... Hopefully they get it to you and won't say "oh sorry you didn't get it in time, it's all gone"

Usually I've gotten all my pre-order collector's editions from them. I got my collector's/limited editions of Metal Gear Solid 3-Subsistence, World of Warcraft-The Burning Crusade, and World of Warcraft-Wrath of The Lich King with no problems. I even pre-ordered Wrath of The Lich King collector's edition very close to the game's launch and still got it a couple days after launch.

This is the first time I've had stuff be on backorder from them. And if they give me that statement from the quote...well somebody from EBGames is going to be getting hit with a massive Shoryuken.

I don't like pre-ordering.

But lets employ Greeneyedzeke for a rant on the topic.

Oh Zeke... where are you?

I dont usually preorder any games because they are too fucking expensive to see if they fucking suck or not, even on hype. So, I always wait about a month or so, and I rent the games first. It takes some patience, thats for sure.

Same here. I never understood the point of pre-ordering. It usually ends up in a long wait with your money tied up in it. What's wrong with just buying it when it comes out, or even a week later?

Exactly. I've never pre-ordered a game and have never had to pre-order one, and have always got "big" games (like new FF and MGS games) within a week of their release. If game stores over here actually gave you a semi-decent pre-order bonus, maybe I would pre-order something. But since its almost always crap like keyrings, I honestly see no point. The one time I was tempted to pre-order a game was FF7 Dirge Of Cerberus, due to the free Vincent Valentine figure. Instead, I imported the exact same figure from Japan and didn't buy a bad videogame until it came down in price. Even with the shipping cost of the figurine, the two items came to a total LESS than the amount I would have paid for the game if I had pre-ordered it.

I never look at games coming out so when I realise it was released the price usually has gone done quite a bit.

I mostly get games from the flea market anyway. About half price for the same game compared to EB Games.

Aren't all EB Games' now GameStops?

I still unofficially call one of the two GameStops in town EB Games just to differentiate.

Yeah, but games are too expensive to pre-order than stand in line at midnight on a school night only to find out they weren't that great in the first place.

I look at pretty much every big release games these days as a disapointment. We all want to relive that gaming magic of a SMB3 or a ZELDA OCARINA but it rarely happens these days.

SNES was never gaming magic. Genesis does, man.

Some people hated the Genesis but I liked it, i got it for my 12th birthday in July of 95 for 70 bucks. I ended up liking it better than the SNES only because my video store always had a better selection of Genesis games than SNES.

The only game that I regret not pre-ordering is Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. If you pre-ordered it, you got a free series compilation poster, a booklet, a pouch, and all this other assorted free crap that I really would've loved to have. Oh well.

Well now I can't even manage the order since they mailed the headband but the actual game is still on backorder. Hopfully I'll have it from GameFly tomorrow.

They just are EB near me, well one uses the full Electronics Boutique name.

I've only preordered from best buy. Pay $10 get a free thing then they keep your copy in the back room for up to 30 days . So it's guarantee you can get it the day it comes out.

Also to add to the rant the fucking company is too cheap to pay for a security systems for each store so they open up all the games and lock the disks in filing cabinets.

With with any other product if it's open it's considered used apparently it doesn't apply to games
