i dont mind IE, but for some reason it uses up a lot of ram on my pc when i check my hotmail. i use chrome and it doesnt give me that issue |
Hotmail uses Microsoft Specific script so that your experience is nicer. This leads to a larger footprint.
This is not an IE issue, this is a hotmail issue. Switch to gmail or yahoo mail if you don't like it.

I always found IE clunky, slow, and ugly myself.
Name does have a lot to do with it, just like it has a lot to do with everything. Some people don't want to use Microsoft Internet Explorer.

In general, I have very few problems with IE. It loads faster than Firefox does on my computer, and once loaded, both run at comparable speeds. I have noticed a few things though:
1. Some ad-filled websites fuck up my IE and slow it down considerably.
2. Some ad-filled websites try to install some MSOffice crap that causes my IE to hang for a minute or two.
3. Lately, Facebook has about a 50/50 chance of causing my IE to completely freeze, forcing me to shut it down and restart. I upgraded from IE6 to IE7 hoping that the newer software would run the site better, but it doesn't.

Firefox is a browser that allows for skinning, it can be as ugly or pretty as a person wants it to be. On the other hand, IE is always going to look the same.
IE 7 was a huge improvement over IE6, and it looks like IE8 will be a major step forward from 7.
The hate for IE is similar to the hate for Vista. It is a bunch of people who think they read something about it being bad. Vista is a great OS once you actually use it and stop reading about how bad it is. Such is IE7 and IE8. Once you stop just believing it is the devil, it isn't so fucking bad.
If we must target a browser for being weak and pathetic... lets aim our sights at Safari. That fucking large lump of crap called a browser fucks up just about every page I have ever browsed.

I don't like the way Vista looks. Then again, I don't really like way XP looks either. I use themes and some of XP's other options to make XP look as much like Windows 98 as possible. If Vista has those same options, I could possibly enjoy it. Otherwise, fuck it.

It does.
In fact, I had to make it look like 98 for a kiosk we made where I work.
It is very easy to do.
I am not 100% sure if you can do this with Windows 7 since they now have a different type of taskbar... but that isn't Vista.

I was guilty of the Vista hate, until I bought a computer that came lwith it. Now I actually like it a lot better than XP. It looks nicer imo, and the interface is great once you learn where everything is again.
IE, though, I have used a lot and still don't like. Its not horrid, I just much prefer Firefox. I'm considering giving Google Chrome a try too, although I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I agree with you here GP. Ever since I've grown accustomed to Firefox, I don't dare touch safari. It's kind of a turd of a browser if you ask me.

Every time I try to use Firefox it crashes before even opening a window. Maybe I uninstalled it improperly because reinstalling doesn't solve anything.
Also, IE opens windows offscreen on my mother's comp, so you can't do anything. Is that a virus or something? Some folders do that too.

If your windows open off screen you can right click on the taskbar and choose to cascade those windows. That will fix your issue.

Syd,
I wanted to follow up with you about this.
This is Windows 7.
Vista looks more like XP than this.
