That fucking sucks. I hope he gets to keep his job.
And tomorrow may mark the end of Midway. Starting tomorrow their debt holders can call in all $150 million of the money the company owes. The company's holdings are current valued at $10 million, so this will spell the immediate and complete destruction of Midway if this happens.

Wow, it's bad news all around for the gaming industry.

I wonder how long it will take EA to jump in to buy all of Midways IPs? They'll probably wait under after the creditors gain control of the assets, and then give them some low-ball offer that the finance companies will take, not knowing shit about videogame properties.

As long as they hire Ed Boon, they can do whatever they want. But it'll still suck. Midway, for all their mediocre recent releases and inability to progress past arcade-style thinking were still a great company, and they the last big American game company, not to mention the oldest surviving one.

Well my brother just called me and assures me his job is safe for now at least though he is still worried. They have been doing this "restructuring" for a while apparently.

From the way it reads, it sounds like the layoffs are happenning over in Europe (hence the West designation).

Well yeah but 1/3 of them were in austin which is why I was worried, appearently the layoffs were in QA which he did used to work in actually so my fears weren't completely unfounded.
