So I watch a lot of movies, A LOT. If I'm home the DVD player is running. Because of this my DVD players tend to crap out after about a year. My 20$ Insignia DVD player bit the dust a few weeks ago, so yesterday I went to Best Buy and bought one of these.

I opted for a higher priced model, like 40$ instead of the usual 20$ in the hopes that it lasts longer.

it works great, but there's one thing wrong with it.

The remote doesn't have an eject button on it! What the fuck is that all about? Confused

I have no problem getting up off my ass and hitting the eject button, in fact it's probably a good thing, but what kind of weird design is that? Let's see power? check. play? check. title and menu? check. directional? check. completely useless 0 - 9 keys? check. eject button? NO GET OFF THE YOU COUCH FAT AMERICAN PIG!!! Mad

...A question.

Did you ever really plan on ejecting a DVD, then staying on the couch?

Most people eject them to take them out of the player, which requires getting up and going right up to the thing anyways.

I'd consider having an eject button on the remote a waste of space myself.

...... Confused

It should still have one! I have to lean like a whole extra inch to reach the eject button, ejecting with the remote and reaching for the tray is more efficient, I've got cartoons to watch damn it! Mad
Embarrassed

Laughing

As someone who had a DVD remote with an eject button, I can tell you that the first time you accidently hit it instead of pause, you stop loving it.

There was one time when the disc tray on my player suddenly came out while I was watching Fantastic Four for the first time. I probably hit the eject button on the remote by accident, but I prefer to think that my DVD player spat out the disc because it couldn't stomach the movie.

Just buy a new remote with the eject button set one of your old ones to send a signal that your DVD player will reconize

I'm assuming you still have the code list

Not sure if my Game Genie manual has any Sony DVD player codes, I'm missing the pages for R through V. Sad

Its funny that all these new DVD players are made so cheap they break within 6 months to a year

I bought an Apex DVD player in 2002 for my brother for about 60 bucks and it managed to endure a ton of viewings and abuse over the years. I ended up giving it to my friend's mom who uses it in her bedroom.

I say this because Apex was supposidly the cheapest and crappiest brand at the time yet it stil endured.

I have a Philips DVD player, I bought from hellmart because it had 1080i upscaling and HDMI. It ran me about $45. I've had it for about 9 months, and it has worked great so far. I also discovered that it can play AVI files, which is awesome. I can burn 5 (700MB) movies on a single disc and watch them.

It's a great little player. I don't know if it will pass the one year mark, but it's getting close. My last DVD player was one of those little grey APEX/Insignia ones that only survived about 5 months of use.

I have a little dinky DVD player that was given to me as a gift for the Christmas of 2007, surprisingly it's been holding up well. Although once in a while it might start having a hard time reading one of my discs.
