I say 1 out of 3, but I cannot argue with the rest of your statement.

I'd say two out of three ain't bad, or two out of four ain't bad if we're gonna include the overweight drunken prostitute enthusiast.

I completely lost respect for Bob Marley when I learned how he died:

Wikipedia wrote:
In July 1977, Marley was found to have acral lentiginous melanoma, a form of malignant melanoma, in a football wound - according to widely held urban legend, inflicted by broadcaster and pundit Danny Baker - on his right big toe. Marley refused amputation, because of the Rastafari belief that the body must be "whole."

Marley may have seen medical doctors as samfai (tricksters, deceivers). True to this belief Marley went against all surgical possibilities and sought out other means that would not break his religious beliefs. He also refused to register a will, based on the Rastafari belief that writing a will is acknowledging death as inevitable, thus disregarding the everlasting (or everliving, as Rastas say) character of life.

The cancer then metastasized to Marley's brain, lungs, liver, and stomach. After playing two shows at Madison Square Garden as part of his fall 1980 Uprising Tour, he collapsed while jogging in NYC's Central Park. The remainder of the tour was subsequently cancelled.

Marley played his final concert at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 23, 1980. The live version of "Redemption Song" on Songs of Freedom was recorded at this show. Marley afterwards sought medical help from Munich specialist Josef Issels, who promoted a controversial type of cancer treatment, partly based on avoidance of certain foods, drinks and other substances (Marley was also already a vegetarian, mainly for religious reasons). However, by this time his illness had already progressed to the terminal stage.

Actually, while the Babe did struggle with weight fluctuations, that is mostly a myth. Only because most video footage is from his later years when he was close to 250 lbs, does everyone think that he was a fat guy.

In reality, for most of his career, he was an athletic power hitter who could challenge anyone with his fielding skills as well as his amazing distance shots:

(Damn, his wikipedia article used to have a sourced paragraph detailing the weight issue. Apparently that page has been defiled in the past year. Ah well, if you still have doubts, look at Bill Jenkinson's Book "The Year Babe Ruth Hit 104 Home Runs: Recrowning Baseball's Greatest Slugger" : http://www.amazon.com/Year-Babe-Ruth-Home-Runs/dp/B0017U1IV2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1233958709&sr=1-1 )

It absolutely is not. Religion, should you choose to accept one, should only dictate your moral and philosophical beliefs. Once you let it dictate your scientific beliefs, you're a fucking moron. For the most part, I'm willing to listen respectfully to other people's opinions and politely disagree, but the minute you tell me that the Earth is only 6000 years old or you can't get into Heaven if you amputate a limb or donate a kidney, I no longer consider any of your opinions on anything to be valid because they're probably equally ill-conceived. If Bob Marley had let a doctor cut off his big toe, he'd still be alive today. But he didn't, because he was a fucking idiot.

I didn't know this about Marley. I hate it when people whose work I admire turn out to be anti-science morons. I lost a lot of respect for Giovanni Ribisi when I found out that he's an anti-psychiatric scientology nut. Having to see Ben Stein's stupid face has become the only low point in Ferris Bueller's Day Off for me. And now Bob Marley has joined their ranks. It's sad.

Yeah, Ben Stein's decision to make EXPELLED was pretty shocking and disappointing to me too.

well, thats not entirely what i meant. this is how i saw it:

roman guard: renounce your god or get fed to the lions!
christian martyr: let go and let god. i can only get into the kingdom by believing.

doctor: you can live another 30+ years if we amputate.
bob marley: let go and let god. i can only get into the kingdom by being whole.

idk what the whole rastafari belief system is, but if thats what they believe, i cant knock it. and i cant lose respect for him for that
