I love the original Sonic games, and Sonic 06 is indeed terrible down to the glitchy gameplay and crapfest storyline with alot of plotholes and bestiality.

I feel that Sonic's character still has potential, but he's being held hostage by Sega. Just try farming a game out to a different studio for once, or at least a different development team (And no, The Dark Brotherhood doesn't count).

I actually enjoy most of the Sonic games, discounting the spin-off crap like the fighters, pinballs, 3D Blast, Sonic 06, etc. Never tried Secret Rings or Dark Brotherhood. I do think Sonic's really been held hostage by fan-fics, Mary-Sue insertions, and the like. Also, please go back to calling him Robotnik, even Yuji said that's his real name.

Yeah, Eggman is the gayest thing I've ever heard. Who cares if some company no one's ever heard of was already using Robotnik.

He was always Eggman in Japan, Robotnik elsewhere until Sonic Adventure. I just thought that it was meant to be an insult when Sonic called him that, until Robotnik called himself Eggman. What's bothered me is that almost every voice actor for a Sonic character has really sucked, while almost all of the actors for Robotnik have been pretty damned good.

I used to hate Sonic, largely due to Sega's 90s ad campaigns. They tried to push themselves as the cooler, edgier alternative to Nintendo. That always pissed me off. Eventually, I was able to reconcile in my mind that Sonic and Mario could coexist, and I came to love the Sonic games. I like pretty much enjoy everything with Sonic that isn't Sonic '06.
That includes Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters.

Awesome. What could be cooler?

Holy crap, I thought his voice was familiar.
Also, is anyone else bothered by the ending to the original Sonic movie? I mean, Eggman tried to wipe out the entire world, and they just don't give a damn.

Also, I forgot to mention, Knuckles Chaotix is a fantastic game. If any of you get a chance to play it, do so.
It's an interesting concept I wish they'd revisit.

I'm a big Sonic fan. The first game I ever played was Sonic 3, and I hold the opinion that Sonic 3 and Knuckles is one of the best games ever. Maybe even the best.

Sonic R is weird. All the characters move like cars.

I used to have the Windows 95 version of it. Sonic R was awesome... it should've really materialized into a cool Saturn-era 3D Sonic game.
At the very least, it was Sonic racing done right, unlike Sonic Riders and it's sequel.

Yes, but it was also on the PC.
On a side note, I have Sonic 3D Blast for both the Sega Genesis and the PC.

Matt Casamassina has criticized several design decisions made by SEGA’s Sonic Team in recent Sonic games, but he is impressed by the Black Knight’s polish and sharp visuals.
Unfortunately, it suffers from a set of flaws that have hindered Sonic games over the last decade.
“SEGA’s latest Wii-exclusive Sonic offering has production values to spare, whether it’s the slick fully rendered cinematic, the amazingly stylized graphical interface or the in-game engine, which regularly spits out fast-moving and detailed environments,” praises Casamassina. “Speed junkies will probably be pleased with some of the high-octane scenarios we’ve seen so far.”
But pretty games aren’t always as exhilarating to play, and according to Casamassina, the Black Knight’s reliance on unnecessary gimmicks and motion-heavy combat controls significantly mars the experience.
“The game’s biggest issue is once more tethered to the unrefined gimmick that Sonic Team has utilized as the backbone for the project,” says Casamassina. “If the developer can quickly present some control alternatives before Black Knight ships, the end product may still impress. But all the loose waggling that comprises the present package is just as frustrating as interesting.”
For more information on the Black Knight, including its level design, control scheme and online features, check out IGN’s full preview.
Sonic and the Black Knight is the second entry in SEGA’s new Sonic Storybook Series. It follows the Feb. 2007 Wii exclusive Sonic and the Secret Rings, which has sold more than two million copies worldwide.
Sonic and the Black Knight blasts onto store shelves Mar. 10.
