http://mightygodking.com/index.php/2009/02/03/neeeeeeeeeerds/

Example
MAGIC: THE GATHERING

Not Nerdy: “They still make that? I played it when I was in high school for a bit, but never got into it”
Slightly Nerdy: “Yeah, it was fun, but I couldn’t keep up with all the expansions so I sold my cards”
Fairly Nerdy: “Do you mind if I use a proxy for Nicol Bolas? I mean, he’s forty bucks”
Nerdy: “You haven’t really played this game until you play draft; it’s how the game is meant to be played”
Really Nerdy: “Okay, if we’re all supposed to be planeswalkers, how come there are planeswalker cards? Am I Ajani? I don’t feel like a lion-man”
Dangerously Nerdy: “I’ve tested this deck against all comers and now all I need is to win free airfare and I’m on my way to the World Championships in Tokyo”

The only thing I'm nerdy about is MML. I have.. sexual dreams about the characters.

Brisco County Jr. is far less nerdy than Dr. Horrible.

Anything with Bruce Campbell is automatic win.

This. I was going to pick up the boxed set yesterday, but I decided to see if I could find it cheaper on line, and I'm fucking really cool, so his nerd list is wrong. Cool Cool Cool

That wasn't as funny as I'd hoped, but I got a chuckle or two out of it.

The only one that meant anything to me was the Call of Cthulhu one. Specifically, the "you've actually read H.P. Lovecraft's works." It just so happens that three days before that I had started my Lovecraft reading for the very first time, starting with the Dunwitch Horror, followed by In the Vault, Rats in the Walls, Shadow over Innsmouth, the Thing at the Doorstep(i think thats what its called), the Music of Eric Zann(I think), and a few others. Despite being able to name the big players in the Mythos, as well as some of the favorite critters and places, I've never actually read one of the short stories before then, my body of knowledge gained wholly through osmosis.

I feel like I've inadverdently cheated somehow.

How I ranked:

BATMAN
Not Nerdy: Going to see The Dark Knight in theatres (fucking spell it right... theaters)

STAR WARS
Not Nerdy: Seeing the movies

HARRY POTTER
I didn't make the list for this one.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING
I played it once, but it was prior to high school.

H.P. LOVECRAFT
Slightly Nerdy: Knowing the proper pronunciation of “Cthulhu”

NERD TELEVISION
Slightly Nerdy: Buffy The Vampire Slayer, I used to watch it in the first two seasons.

STAR TREK
I hate Star Trek

COMPUTER USE
Really Nerdy: Getting all of the coding jokes in XKCD (Yes... I am at least this far)
Dangerously Nerdy: “I’m bringing BeOS back!” (Does it count that I have actually installed this OS?)

Then I must destroy you!!!

That was actually the one I scored highest on the nerdy scale. For everything else I was a one or two, but for Trek, I was a four.

Coincidentally, if I ever try to learn a fake language like Klingon instead of a real world language, shoot me, and shoot me quickly.

There was a story in the AP about a guy in Colorado Springs who stole an undisclosed amount of cash with a batleff (sp?) from a 7-11 and then tried the same schtick with another store 25 minutes later when he got caught.

Yep. I actually prefer the theatre spelling. For -er words that aren't tagged onto verbs, I actually prefer the British spelling, like sabre and centre. I also prefer grey over gray. Razz
