While I don't share your disdain for the Beatles, I will agree that the Stones are much more deserving of a Guitar Hero game more than they are.
I don't particularly hate the Beatles. They revolutionized both pop and rock music and influenced a shitload of bands, including the Stones. Until the Stones met the Beatles, they were a cover band. Then Mick and Keith watched John and Paul write a song in like ten minutes. They made songwriting look so easy that Mick looked at Keith and said, "Hey, I bet we could do that." And the rest is history.
But most of the Beatles' songs are, apart from studio magic, fairly simplistic. That doesn't mean the songs are bad or somehow undeserving of the heaps of praise they've received over the years, but it does mean they wouldn't translate well into a game.
Also, I'm not sure how marketable the Beatles are these days. When the Anthology albums came out in the mid-90s, there was still a very healthy amount of Beatlesmania in America. But I don't see a lot of young people get excited over the Beatles the way that people I know did when the Anthologies came out. Also, a large part of the appeal of these guitar/band games is that they let you pretend you're a rock star, a dangerous bad ass sex machine. The Beatles are much safer band, and they were all about peace and love.
Wouldn't be surprised if they asked Dave but got denied. A shame, I always thought In My Darkest Hour or Holy Wars would make a good final boss.

...the Beatles game will suck. The only even remotely changing guitar line in a Beatles song was played by Eric Clapton, and Ringo is a terrible drummer. The Beatles were masters of sound editing and pioneers of production techniques; they were not good musicians. The Stones deserve their own game about 500 times more than the Beatles do.
I think people will buy the shit out the Beatles Rock Band and here's why:
1. So many Rock Bands and Guitar Heros have already been sold, so I think it's safe to say that old people have become aware of it and will eat this up. Parents and grandparents own Wiis.
2. The Beatles have more well known songs than probably any other band. People want to play and sing what they know. Which songs do you replay most often on these games?
3. They didn't write the most difficult songs, but I think the game makers have a handle on what people want by now. These games can be made easy or difficult; none of the games plays the ACTUAL guitar lines, so they can beef it up by throwing in more button pressing. They could make "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" difficult if they wanted.
4. The Beatles are so highly guarded when it comes to likeness and master recordings.
You are correct; Ringo was not a great drummer, but neither was Charlie Watts.

Here's a trailer that shows what the group looks like GH-ified:

If I'm not mistaken, most of the Kill'em All stuff should be attributed to Mustaine.

There are definitely some early Metallica and Megadeth songs that use the same guitar lines. I believe Four Hourseman and Mechanix have the same riff.
IIRC, the same thing happened to Steve Stevens. He wrote a riff when he was working with Michael Monroe in Jerusalem Slim and Monroe didn't want to use it. Then Stevens left to join Vince Neil's band and used the riff for a song called "Can't Have You Cake". Then Monroe used the riff on the Jerusalem Slim CD for a song called "Downwardly Mobile".
There are definitely some early Metallica and Megadeth songs that use the same guitar lines. I believe Four Hourseman and Mechanix have the same riff.
I believe that's because Dave Mustaine wrote the majority of Four Horsemean and just ended up using it on his album.

Yeah, "Mechanix" is essentially a sped-up 'Four Horsemen" without the melodic break in the middle that was added by Metallica, with an added intro. Also, according to Mustaine, Kirk Hammett used a bunch of his guitar solos for "Kill 'Em All". Listening to the "No Life 'Till Leather" demo, his story checks out, as all the solos are more or less identical (to the best of my memory.) I don't have the real demo, obviously, but I have heard all the songs via the glory of YouTube. I also find James' vocals on that album pretty funny, as he was going for a Diamond Head-esque vocal approach, but it just sounded like his balls had been stepped on. Haha.
And I doubt Mustaine's pride would let him appear in Guitar Hero: Metallica, however awesome that would be.
And while we're on the subject:

I'm not that into Social Distortion, plus I haven't heard the song in question. I don't dislike them, I just never really checked them out. I'm also not that big of a "Tuesday's Gone' fan, I mean, it's obvious why they picked it, but I would have preferred "That Smell" or "Saturday Night Special", or even "Swamp Music." Also, could we have gotten a different Lizzy song? I'd kill to play the live versions of "Jailbreak" or "Emerald."

I also don't get the Social connection. If they were going with punk they should have put in Misfits and Discharge, as Metallica were/are huge fans (and Discharge being pretty metal for a punk band). Hell, in '85, supposedly the Misfits were all Cliff would listen to, he'd drive the rest of the band crazy.
The thing (that should not be) is, with "Angel of Death", parents would definitely bitched. "War Ensemble", while fairly dark, is roughly on the same level as "Disposable Heroes." "Angel of Death", on the other hand, has pretty graphic descriptions of concentration camp atrocities, which is definitely a touchy enough subject for any game maker to think twice about including it. Though I don't understand why they take out "Angel of Death" and leave in the Mercyful Fate medley. I mean, I likes me some Mercyful Fate, but there are some pretty Satanic lyrics in their material. Hell, even "Am I Evil?" is about a witch being burned and the son taking revenge. Those bands probably aren't big enough to stir up a fuss, though.
And Ride the Lightning was downloadable content on Rock Band, "Trapped Under Ice" was on GHWT. And it was glorious. I always have a little inner struggle when playing Cliff-era Metallica songs on GH, because on one hand, I want to solo, but on the other, as I've stated ad nauseum, Cliff was the man and the reason I play bass. I usually go with the solos. I can just play Cliff's stuff on bass, but I'll be damned if I can solo like Kirk/Mustaine. I'll stick to rhythm guitar.
What I want to know is: Will we finally be able to hear the bass on the Justice tracks?

I am sorry to hear about your great-grandparents. I feel I should elaborate upon my post: "Angel of Death" was written about atrocities committed in concentration camps by Josef Mengele, who did so many evil deeds he was nicknamed "The Angel of Death", hence the song.
