I am still living in the Middle ages of Console Gaming and have yet to get one of these, a 360 I mean. My current financial situation is fairly tight, however I may be able to slip in just a little bit of disposable income for the console. I just had a few questions that I wanted to see if any of you might be able to help me out with.

First I'm only planning on getting a Refurbed or Arcade system because of how slim my budget is at the moment. So with that being said, can I use a Memory card for my gamer tag n' saves. If so whats a good price range one might pay for one? or for that matter is there a large price gap between a Memory card, and say a used/new Hard Drive unit for an XBOX. I don't exactly plan to get much from the market place so I can't see me needing a hard drive right now so if I could avoid one that would be fine with me, about all i really need from the XBOX would be the ability to play L4D online, and games like Dead Rising, Fallout 3, RE5, etc...

Thanks for any help any of you may be able to offer me in this department.

Do not get a Arcade. 199 for a bare bnes 256 mg system.

Do you know how much space the dashboard takes up? 256 mg.

And if you get that and then buy memory, a small amount (1g) will set you back $50. 20 gbs is $100 and 60 is $150.

See how much that costs? Very Happy Money is tight I know, but with a little more saving you could not only get more bang for your buck, but up the resale value by quite a bit.

I say go for refurbished. If you want the RRoD warranty make sure it wasn't opened so Microsoft will fix it. If not, make sure that they installed some fans or something to prevent RRoD.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, definitely don't get an Arcade. Pointless.

Unless you buy the arcade and then get a refurbished hard drive. I shaved around twenty bucks off of my cost by doing that.

Yeah. Do what Char says. The Jasper (The new board without the RROD problems) Are mostly Arcade models still. Then you can order a refurb 20 gig HD and get 1 year of gold through a special offer from Microsoft. Plus it's slightly cheaper

Fuck the Xbox, mine has broken twice now, and they want 100 bucks to fix the disc drive, even though the damn thing isn't even half a year old. I swear if it's the last thing I do Ima punch Bill Gates in the dick. Mad

Yeah, I think the newer motherboard makes a major difference. That's part of the reason why I purchased the Arcade (I did not have the cash for the Elite at the time).

That's what I was going to say. The new arcades run cooler. You should just do what I plan on doing. Get an arcade edition than when you have some more money buy a new or refurbished hard drive.

I managed to pull enough funds with $$$ and trade credit to get a Microsoft Referb. Pro system for just about 192$ from gamestop so I guess it all worked out in the end. Now to get some Software for it...

Yeah, they used the same disc drives, so any drive-related failure will still be there.
