Hello everyone,
I was playing some Mike Tyson's punch-out the other day, and after getting fed for a while by Iron Mike himself I think I have declared him Nintendo's hardest Boss.
I find that Nintendo was never really good at making great bosses(like in the Mario games), but they really got it right with Mike Tyson. It was a good mixture of difficulty and yet kept the fun factor.
So, Who do you think is Nintendo's most difficult Boss?(restrict it to NES, SNES, N64 because I haven't played much of the other systems)
I'm very new to the site, so I apologize in advance if something like this has been discussed before.

Mmmmm yea I agree for the most part, especially with Mario. The boss battles in that franchise have always been fairly simple, but they were never intended to be exceedingly difficult.
I recall some of the Metroid Prime bosses being fairly rough.

Cackletta's Ghost in M&L:SS, that or Mecha Ridley in Metroid: ZM.

Bloody Malth in Ninja Gaiden always gave me a shit load of trouble. Not to mention if you lost, you had to do the whole damn level over again.

But last time I checked, Ninja Gaiden was made by Tecmo.
I'm gonna agree on Mike Tyson. That whole game, while super fun to play, is ridiculously hard to beat.

Tyson isn't nearly as hard as all that. Once you survive the first 1:30, you're fine. I always found Super Macho Man harder.
I think I'll go with the Thunderbird from Zelda II.

In all fairness, I think Tyson is probably the hardest until you get used to him. Then he isn't nearly as bad.

The code to start at Tyson... or possibly Macho Man. I forget if you could start at Tyson.
I think the hardest boss is the SSBB end boss on the hardest difficulty.

For me, the boss at the end of Prince of Persia Rival Swords.
Why?
The swing around graphics make a camera collision detection error as you attack in phase two. Your first speed kill attack must be estimated.
Because of this, I get to phase two and attack him no less than 20-30 times before running out of life. If I could see the moment where I need to attack, then I would be fine. On the Wii all speed kills should also be based on button presses and not remote motion.
On second thought... speed kills are a stupid invention and should be sent away to the netherworld.
I have now gotten to the end boss of this game twice and cannot beat it.

That code starts you at Tyson with an 0-2 record (not that it matters, losing to Tyson is a game over regardless)
The code the game gives you when you beat SMM starts you at SMM.

Twice?, Any game where you expect to beat the final boss on the first few try's can't be that difficult. The first time you faced Tyson there is no way your able to beat him on your first couple try's.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that nobody has ever beaten Tyson on their first 2 go's at him. If you have your lying to me. Except if your that kid from "The Wizard" he was pretty good at everything.

If you were responding to my statement about getting to the end Boss of Prince of Persia twice, I fought him more than that. I simply played through the game twice. I fought him well over 100 times.

Yeah that makes more sense, I thought you meant fighting the boss twice. 100 times though!, you may be on to something here. Well good on ya, I would of given up far before that.

Great call, I found that fairly challenging on the moderate level. Some of those screen filling attacks are ruthless...

I thought Tabuu was actually pretty easy, especially if you knew how to time everything. I found Duon to be harder.
And if we're going to start naming things from other companies, then I nominate the entirety of Art of Fighting, the A.I. in that game is ruthless.

Unfortunately i never played all that many of Nintendo's games, Metroid and the zeldas are about all i can think of. Even so, i STILL get thie shivvers when i think about fighting that god damn PHANTOM in Super Metroid. It's the only boss in ANY of the Metroid games i've played (everything up to the first prime, and fusion on GBC) though i hear some of Prime 2 and 3's bosses are just plain nuts.

Some of the MP3 bosses are indeed quite fierce. That game was soooo fucking enjoyable though.

I hated fighting Manhandla in The Legend of Zelda. When you take out a claw it moves faster.

Phatoon in Super Metroid was manageable. Just don't shoot at it with Super Missiles.
