So where do you stand on a political compass?

http://www.politicalcompass.org/test

Here is what I got:
Economic Left/Right: -2.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.64

I thought it might be interesting if others tried this out and presented their "scores". We could then make a decent page in the Sydapedia.

I'm not sure how accurate the questions are to the positioning on the chart, but it seems like it is pretty close for me.

I've done this before too. I remember doing it for the fist time for a class freshman year in college and I was way more libertarian back then. Anyway, here's my results:

Economic: 4.25
Social: 2.51

Economic= -2.00
Social= -5.74

So effectively a moderate libertarian. It seems As I've gotten older I've gone exactly one point right and like four points upward. I used to be such an anarchist. Sigh.

Could someone help me understand my results? Seems to me I'm slightly left and slightly Libertarian, which sounds about right, but am I interpreting the graph right?

According to their examples, I'm right there with Gandhi, Mandela and (coolest of all, because he's one of my absolute heroes) the Dali Lama. (Free Tibet!) Not very close to Obama sadly, but not surprising given the fact I do question him on a lot. I'm very close to Ralph Nader though; also not surprising since I've voted for him in the past.

enshinkarateman, you are interpreting your results correct. You and I are pretty close, although I'm a bit farther to the left than you are. Libertarian left both socially and economically.

Awesome site for conversation, and learning about yourself. Thanks for the link GP.

I think those of you who haven't posted the image should do so. I like to get a visual of the spectrum.... I have no clue what those numbers mean.... I notice most of us seem to linger in the lower left quadrant...

Should I read this as your score or are you mocking the test?
-3.9 , -5.8

I am creating a scatter plot for the group.

Also, I am really interested to see how the Lexia Bros. score.

The chart I post will have all of this data in it, it should be pretty cool.

Edit: Update:

Here is what I have gathered so far. Colors are meaningless, they just help you associate the data point with the data label.

I'm sad that Reagan isn't on the grid. I imagine he's close to Thatcher though, as they were BFFs.

The test is crap though. Most of the questions don't warrant a simple yes/no answer.

Well, I closed the link long ago, and I doubt I could get exactly the same score taking the test again... so here's a close approximation of what mine probably looked like.

I do agree with that, but anyone who takes a test like this and doesn't take it with at least a grain of salt probably shouldn't be taking it in the first place.

I'm curious about Regan too, although your assumption about Thatcher is probably pretty close. He's probably at least in the same quadrant. The guy I really wanted to on there is Al Gore--I'm curious to see if he's in the upper right with most US politicians, or if he's closer to someone like Nader.

Btw, awesome job on the compilation there GP. Cool to see.
