So much for going green, huh? I can't believe people have been blindly recommending these light bulbs for so long without knowing anything about them.

I could give a shit about this chick. Not hot + annoying voice + not a brain cell in her head = hitting STOP.
Boring. Basically, don't break the bulb by being a retard. Well shit.

Red-haired weirdo on Youtube says certain type of light bulb has mercury in it.
As far as I can tell, her argument is we don't know what mercury from CFLs will do after 20 years so they're bad? Whatever, lady. Guess what else has mercury in it: washing machines, dryers, pilot light sensors on ovens, batteries in calculators, hearing aids, toys, and watches, LCD monitors, the laptop you are getting your research on, and so on. I need a little more compelling evidence than someone who gets their data from snopes.com to avoid buying a particular type of light bulb.
Also, she mentions in the video that she stopped a woman at Walmart to tell her how much CFL bulbs suck. If someone did this to me, I might make them eat one of them out of sheer annoyance.
Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

Win on the basis of of lulz and truth.

We have more important issues to worry about than some stupid fucking light bulbs. The government is putting rainbows in our water:
"Anybody who ever built an empire, or changed the world, sat where you are now. And it’s because they sat there that they were able to do it."
"Fighting in a basement offers a lot of difficulties, number one being, you're fighting in a basement."

That hurts man, I actually tore a CFL apart a few months ago trying to screw it into a lamp that didn't fit it right. I'm amazed I didn't cut myself open.

Those bulbs don't seem to last very long anyway. I try my best to find the old-fashioned energy wasters. The lighting is better from the old ones anyway. With some scientists now saying that we're entering an ice age, who cares if I waste some energy. Average temps have been going down for ten years now, plus it's all about cycles. No one knows shit.

"I'm gonna make this quick."
*looks at the 9-minute run time*
...Oh boy.
First off, the amount of mercury in those bulbs is negligible. You wouldn't even notice it if you broke them open (and I have...well, not me. I had a cat who liked to break them). For it to "build up" to a significant level, you'd have to break bulbs at such a rate that I'd start wondering if something was wrong with you.
I have also never noticed any sort of delay at all when I turn mine on.
Snopes.com is not a site that "does the research for you", it's one where they debunk urban legends, ones like, oh, the one where CFL's can kill you. This is the page that she's referring to in the site, and it does a pretty good job of explaining things in a far less hysteria-inducing manner. I do notice also while batteries and computer monitors also need to go to a "toxic waste dump", but she has no issue with them.
She also seems to be ignoring that the effects of the mercury on you and the environment is more than offset by the energy they save.
Long story short: Be aware of it, but no need to flip out.
And God forbid these tinfoil hat wears find out we have fucking radioactive materials in our smoke detectors.
I'm 99% sure that nobody is that stupid. But like somebody says in the video comments,
"Fake or not
Greatest video ever."
I like how she says that this didn't happen 20 years ago. If it is real, she must have never played with a hose or in a sprinkler as a kid.

Uh, huh. People honestly expect us to be fucking stupid enough to break a CFL? A retard breaks a CFL it's his own damn problem.

Umm...it's a fluorescent lightbulb. Fluorescent lightbulbs have mercury. If you didn't know this, and were surprised to find out that CFLs have it, then you are a stupid asshole.
Also, when she made me promise not to turn the video off, I asked her to suck my dick. Three minutes in I had yet to receive my beej. So I turned off the video.
At 2 minutes in, she hasn't made her point. Video is off.
Was this video a test? Does it gauge attention span?
That's what I thought.

I actually wasted my time watching the entire thing. It would appear that her husband is still buying the bulbs.

This is painful to watch and uninformative. I hate people like this, and if she came up to me somewhere telling me what to buy, I'd probably punch her in the face.
This is another case of how dangerous it is for people to have a little knowledge. Funny how she isn't decrying batteries and how dangerous they are, since they also need to be disposed of properly.

Mercury seems to be en vogue among the crazies at the moment. The anti-vaccination idiots have been making unsubstantiated claims about mercury in vaccinations causing autism for a while now.

Last time I checked, doctors aren't injecting light bulbs into babies.
If they were, I would understand the protesting.

Haha yikes, I have always been a fan of the classic anyways.
I have some Cfl's to save on the power bill, and just good to use less power in general. Anywho, they aren't anywhere was bad as she would lead you to believe, and I too agree with Kubo, if someone stopped me in Wal-Mart and told me not to buy something, I may cram said item into my orafice of choice on them. I am a big fan of LED light bulbs but they are hard to find for normal fixtures, and expensive

They're putting rainbows in our water as a subliminal hint to go gay, think about it, rubber sperm catchers for the kids, no babies. Gay pride parades with rainbow flags, no babies. No babies no armies, no armies and the commies take us over. Do your American duty and go impregnate a young woman RIGHT NOW!

Is it just me, or does she look like Flo from the Progressive commercials?
