Has anyone ever seen this movie?
I saw it myself a couple years ago, and just watched it again. Its fucking amazing. Sick, and more than a little twisted, but holy shit. its based on a true story. Jeremy Irons plays a set of identical twins who run a medical practice and...well, as much as I want to say more than that I won't, because to give ANYTHING away would be horrible in my book. lets just say things end up going wrong, and that drugs, sex and girlfriends are involved. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it highly. Weather you're a fan of Cronenberg, Irons, thrillers, twisted stories, or just damn fine acting, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I LOVE Cronenberg: Scanners, Existenz, A History Of Violence, Videodrome, The Fly, The Dead Zone, Crash, Eastern Promises, Naked Lunch...
But I have not seen this. I will have to track it down.

Oh my god, I love Fly and Videodrome. The Fly is the absolute SHIT. I would have a hard time picking between Ringers and that one, although I THINK Fly would edge it out if only for what a beautiful tragedy it is.
If you haven't seen Ringers though, you MUST. Like yesterday. If you have Netflix, they have it--that's where I saw it. They even have it on instant-watch. (Although if you have the patience I'd recommend getting the DVD. Jeremy Irons has an AMAZING solo commentary track on there which is must-hear if your any sort of fan of the man or the craft of acting. The documentary they have on the making of is a bit generic, but cool as well. It's neat to see how they did the side-by-side effects for the twins.)

Yeah this movie indeed fucking rocks. It is a must see for Cronenberg fans, and you owe it to yourself to see it even if you don't know who Cronenberg is.

Never seen it. Sadly, this is the only thing that came to mind:

I've seen Scannerz, Existenz, and the Dead Zone. I liked all of them, and this movie sounds pretty good, but I don't know about the mutant vaginas and stuff...

Well in fairness, there aren't any mutant vaginas. One of the doctors just THINKS there are (note the mention of drugs in my description), so you should be pretty safe. It's all just in the guy's head, and you never actually see what he's imagining. The horror lies in the way he's losing his mind (and how that affects his brother), not in what he actually sees. There's lots on non-vagina related blood and gore, but nothing that should bother anyone here I'd think. The most uncomfortable scene for a guy to watch would probably be a (fairly) straightforward portrayal of an OBGYN exam (not that you see anything, at ALL, but the idea seems to make guys squirm in my experience). There's a few other things, but nothing you can't deal with if you've seen Cronenberg before.
Ia actually found the trailer on youtube and almost posted it, but changed my mind because really, it gives away too much (it won't ruin the movie, but its a lot more fun to let the plot unfold in front of you, I promise.) You can search it out if your really interested, but I'd highly advise just seeing the movie if your interest is piqued.

I put this in my Netflix queue on your recommendation and it finally came earlier this week. I watched it, and it was awesome.

Excellent, I'm glad you liked it Syd. Not a whole lot of people seem to know about this movie, and I wouldn't either if I wasn't such a huge fan of Jeremy Irons. A quiet classic movie imho.
Rather like "Equilibrium." Almost nobody I know has seen this movie, and yet to me it rivals the first Matrix in terms of sheer awesomeness. Has anybody here seen that one?
