So far Nintendo's announced a line of games under the banner of NewPlayControl (GameCube games redone to utilize the Wiimote and Nunchuk). Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis were already slated to be coming out as such, but now they've announced Metroid Prime's getting the same treatmentand that it will also support 16:9 widescreen and feature upgraded textures.

I was fine with Resident Evil 4's setup on the GameCube, I haven't played MP3 yet (still on my backlog of Wii games I own) but I heard the wiimote+nunchuk makes Metroid Prime's Samus feel extremely slow.

Thoughts?

Wherever you heard that the wiimote+nunchuk makes MP3 feel slow is wrong, it's a good control set-up at least to me.

I've only played the Wii for something like 2 days over Xmas one year, but from the scientific sample of 1 game (Mario Kart Wii) It seemed like the wheel was the hardest way to play, and the Wavebird was easy mode. I suspect that Pikmin would be easier to play, but I can't imagine much else.

If they don't make it an actually new game, it would be neat if they released DLC that for $5 you could get the new controls, and if you put the original disc in, you could still play. Instead of buying the game again.

No, I'm saying that when comparing MP3 to the original, that the original feels sluggish with a GC controller.

If they're gonna be $20 budget titles, fine. Go for it. Otherwise, make new games. I know Pikmin 3 is already confirmed, but a new Mario Tennis is not. Why not just make a new Mario Tennis?

RE4 and Okami were great ports, but not everything from last gen needs to be ported to the Wii. And let's be honest here, these games are ports not remakes. There is going to be NO new content in these games, just new controls.

I own Prime & Power Tennis.

The fact that they aren't 16:9 pisses me off, so I would be a huge fan of updates and tighter graphics.

Also tennis would be awesome if they make the controls work well.

Prime 3 was fantastic AFTER you adjust the sensitivity on the controller. If you boost it to max, it rules. It is way better than it was on the GameCube.

I demand every good Nintendo game ever to be remade in 16:9 because I just can't STAND things being stretched out OR having to look at gray bars. New original games mean nothing if my old games don't look good on my fancy HDTV!!!!

Took the words right out of my mouth. They should focus on new games, of which there are NOT enough for the Wii, rather than trying to repackage stuff we already own. Exceptions can be made for a case like Okami, where the controls clearly make a difference in play, but other than that...stop resting on your laurels, Nintendo!

Coming from a N64 Mario Tennis and Power Tennis addict, I am totally psyched about Mario Tennis on the Wii. However, JUST MAKE A NEW FUCKING GAME! I don't want to play the same game all over again just because it has cooler controls.

Nintedo needs to stop coming up with new ideas for a while.

Metroid Prime 3 played very well, but wtf? Pikmin is a game made for the Wii, but can I have an original game (aka Pikmin 3) for christ's sake.
