"A new trademark filed by Nintendo indicates the DSi SD card slot might be used for more than just DLC storage.

The Japanese trademark is for a “DS Houi Sensor Card”. Houi is Japanese for “direction,” and Siliconera is speculating it could be for a motion-sensing SD card.

After last year’s Slide Mag Kid, the news is hardly a surprise, and is also perfectly in line with the company’s stated goal of expanding the way people interact with their video games. Either that, or there are going to be people swinging Wii consoles around their living rooms in the near future."

Looks like we may be using the DSi as a backup Wiimote with this stuff.

Sounds like a ploy by Nintendo to try selling more DSis...also known as exploiting a flaw in both strap-less wiimotes and idiots.

Err... this could get interesting. Once people start plugging SD shaped motion detecting devices into random things and updating firmware...

Look you can use your Canon Powershot SD1000 to take pictures and make Mario throw a fireball!

As if Wiimotes didn't cause enough damage, now people just might have an excuse to swing something even heavier around their house?

This may very well lead to the most entertaining thing Nintendo could give us...

I think I'll pass on the motion-sensing SD card. I don't care if the strap is made of steel wire or something, I'm not taking the chance of swinging an entire console around like a wiimote.
